Are there really any differences is the poppers that are comercially available? Do people find one better than the other. Costs seems to be very variable.

For full disclosure, Picture Brite is a paying sponsor of this site, however, I have tried their products and would not recommened one had I not.

Hehe I like their "special"... buy 6 for $150 ($25 ea) or buy individually for $18 each. :)

Yes, there are differences.

Two common main ingredients are isoamyl nitrite and

isobutyl nitrite (usually just called amyl and butyl

nitrite for short). Amyl nitrite (the variety found

in pharmaceutical poppers) has more pleasant effects

and fewer unpleasant effects than butyl nitrite.

Some brands sold a while back had propyl nitrite,

which was worse than either.

Non-pharmaceutical poppers often contain various other

compounds, probably due to poor manufacturing processes.

There's usually at least a trace of amyl or butyl alcohol

left over from the synthesis of the nitrite; crummy brands

of poppers may have more alcohol than nitrite present.

Organic nitrites tend to decompose when exposed to water

or light (thus the dark bottles), and last longer when

refrigerated.

I have noticed that some brands are mellower - don't spike as high, but last longer. And that others spike higher but don't last as long. (One client and I recently combined the two, and it was wonderful, but I don't really recommend it as it is probably a good bit of a nono and besides we didn't do everything that we had intended to do because we got so ingrossed in other things. - That would basically be OK with me, but we already have a small disagreement in that he always seems to like it when we go into SM without the BD, but then he complains on his way out that next time I really should remember to tie him up.)

I've also been told that while they need to be refrigerated, they shouldn't be in the freezer. So now I keep mine in the otherwise unused butter compartment.

It is important to remember that poppers must not be used with Viagra. The combination can cause death.

Just be sure that you tell the top to slow down before you inhale.

Not too long ago I was fucking this guy, and while I always bend down and kiss my bottom intermittently, I must have been between kisses and looking at us both in the mirror. Unbeknownst to me, it was at that time he pulled out his poppers, I didn't even know he had, and began to inhale the noxious chemical, while I continued to pound away hard...the full contents of bottle spilled down his throat and he started yelling and clawing to get out from under me and into the bathroom to gulp down some water. OOOPS.

LOL too funny, did he ever call you back? :)

Great, Rick, call yourself old fashioned and then remind me how mid-70s some of us here in Houston are. I know we're usually ten years behind the main coasts, but ...;-)

I have found that poppers with Rick is redundant. My brain still spins an hour after he's left. The info on poppers above is pretty "right on", to use a 70's expression. My fav is the original amyl nitrate, which the feds put the ke-bash on after a few years. I wonder why THAT formula is banned and the other similar ones are sold freely. Gotta love the bureaucracy. Now, as long as they don't ban Rick...
