Goodbye to all of you

I have been here since the beginning and have watched the site grow and grow. My circumstances have changed though and now I must bid you all goodbye. I won't be back here and my days with escorts are over.

 

I leave with great sadness in my heart because I have enjoyed what has become a true community unlike what I have seen anywhere else on the net. Even with vitriol and nastiness it still comes together as a community in the end and many of us our better for the experience.

 

I could go on and on mentioning all of those I respect here but I fear this would go for days. Let is suffice that each and every one of you has contributed in some way to my life.

 

To Hoo...well my friend you have been with my through thick and thin, good times and really bad times. Thank you for your friendship. My only regret is that with all our long and sometimes happy, sometimes tearful conversations....we never were able to meet.

 

To my fellow moderators. I will miss sharing our daily tasks with you. I won't miss dealing with the bull but feel bad they I leave it with you.

Good clients breed good escorts, I think, and I have Barry to thank for much of my success.

 

He was one of my first clients when I started doing this crazy thing. Because of his relaxed attitude and friendly demeanor, he took a lot of my edge off, and this became a fun profession instead of something I was doing to pay the bills. I never would have thought I'd be able to give up a "day job" to do this full time and focus on my more creative endeavors, but I was able to do it, in no small part, due to early support from guys like Barry. OK guys, time for a little sensitivity training -- I know you have no ill intensions.

 

If Barry had wanted to share his reasons he would have done so. It doesn't take much exposure to his posts to know he is a thougtful and careful person, thus his post wasn't made in haste or as an idlle thought. Each of us desires some measure of privacy. I appreciate the fact that he thought enough of the community to say good-bye. Enough said, I hope.

I disagree. Yeah, it's up to him to tell us why or why not, but this is a forum in which people, myself included, and even more so him, share very intimate thoughts and expressions. Truthfully, some of us are conflicted, even though we enjoy the use of this forum, which also adds a certain comfort via community to our participation in it and in this world. But when someone who's been so integral a part of it just suddenly leaves, for no stated reason, after contributing so much to the appeal of being in this forum and of seeing escorts, I think it's not entirely unreasonable for that person to give some sort of resolution as to why he is now leaving. It's his choice, but I don't think it's out of line to inquire. I'm not asking out of gossip, but just because it would represent another facet of this community's experiences, and it feels like it's being hidden. Maybe there's nothing to it, maybe it's good news, maybe there's something we don't want to hear; but I think a person who has been such a big part of developing this community does in spirit, at least, owe the other participants, who have joined this community in part because of his efforts, a resolution. Nevertheless, all the best.

Interesting POV -- someone who has consistently contributed to the community over the long term owes the community a debt. Somehow if there is a debt here it seems to me to lie in the other direction. In this community where so many desire and expect discretion, no ante was required for entry and I see none required for exit.

While he is no means a country leader or family father, it's a little like having either suddenly quit with no explanation. Yes, they may have done a lot for the people below, maybe even debt goes both way, but when someone takes that role, there is an implicit obligation to see it through with honesty.

My only point was that by announcing his leaving in such a dramatic way but to offer no explanation...as to why... leaves everyone thinking the worst.

The new Barry

 

Who is going to be the new Barry? I think the new moderator who replaces Barry should be someone who is vested in the Message Center; participates in a measured, level-headed, and reasonable manner; and is fair-minded and objective with regard to all of the various types of participants. I think the nominee should also have a strong sense of ethics and faith in hooboy's rules, but be sufficiently humble and restrained so as not to impose his own views when carrying out his moderating duties.

 

Accordingly, I nominate Donnie, dehli, WorldEscrtSean, and ButtMaster II to replace Barry.

 

I also think Traveller was born to be a Message Center moderator, but may be too humble and/or have too sore of an ass to accept the nomination.

 

Finally, I think Zack - not ZachDC, but Zack, who posts in exclusively (but brilliantly) in the Escort Travel section - should be considered as well. I don't know what he'd be like as a Moderator, but look at those fucking pictures!!!!!
