I was wondering of all the moderators who dislikes me the most?

Of all the general participants I need to know who hates me the most? (sorry Rod you can't vote :-)

And HooBoy do you wake up in the middle of the day and wish you did not have to look at another one of my posts?

Well, really, what is so weird about it? Don't we all at times wonder what other people think of us? It seems that sometimes the ones who say "I don't care" are really masking the fact that they do care.

If this a community, there will be people that like us and people that don't. For someone to come right out and ask indicates to me that IM Moore does care what people think.

I daresay that Truth Teller (sic) even cares what people think about him. He is just so afraid that people will reject him that he rejects everybody else first!

(And I care when nobody even responds to my posts! Even an unpleasant response feeds my ego better than no response!))

Alanm,

I'd like to think you are right but I don't think I can agree with your attribution that the rating system has reduced the weird postings -- these things seem to come in cycles and I think one or two often spawn more. Certainly, it hasn't been in place long enough to provide a definitive result.

Since you have wandered off point a little, I'll continue the stroll down this lane a little way too - some things I've wanted to post regarding a few interesting enhancements to the ratings, which I know are beyond scope, nevertheless:

1. TheDCForum folk should reconsider their gold star ratings symbol. I favor putting gold stars for postive ratings, gray or white stars for neutral ratings and black stars for negative ratings -- sort of like badges of honor, indifference, and shame or for some, badges of honor, indifference, and honor of a different sort. The information is buried in the system now -- you have to look up the individual ratings or do the math, and HooBoy said when I enrolled that there'd be no math :-) (I'll say it before someone else does... we don't need no stinkin' badges around here!! :-) )

2. Insititue a ratings cross reference to list for each indivdual 'rater' the number of positive, neutral, and negative ratings he has issued collectively to others.

It has been my contention all along that the real information in the rating system, if there is any at all, is that about the 'rater' and not about the 'ratee', IMHO.

Now I shall relinquish control of the thread back to the mainstream topic.

:-)

You can say that again! ;-)

IM,

I certainly don't hate you and I hope no-one does. On the other hand, some of us are sorry to see you are bitter. I hope you can do something about it. Investigating the reasons could be a good idea for a first step. Good luck! (In case anyone is wondering, I am *not* being sarcastic.)

RE: Ratings

Since the inception of this forum people have requested a rating system similar to EBay's. Well, that's what this is.

Granted, it's not fool proof and may attract fools, but as was pointed out, some of the postings DO reveal more about the rater than the ratee.

I don't think it's difficult to figure out. The same will be true as the database of Reviewers emerges to contain past reviews. Some people are just nasty and impossible to please.
