Hi all

Not a frequent poster, but am curious if anyone has info on hiring one of the gentleman who has an interesting "handle". Lately I have been intrigued by some ads, but cannot imagine making a call that begins "Hi! Is 'Made in Isreal' there?" or "Hello, Island Muscle? My name is...." Or leaving a message: "Hoping this is the appropriate mailbox for Soho Adonis." I completely understand that many of the guys use pseudonyms, or don't give out their last names, but there are several ads where I have to wonder just how cruel are the parents of these boys: Flava? Sexyboi? Playa? Really!

I admit I miss Stellas where you could find out that Scorpio was really Charlie and Thunduh was really Ty before you took him home. But I like a verbal man, and have been known to moan "Jason" or "Rick" in the heat of passion, but somehow "Black Adonis" and "Muscle Stud" don't really have a sensual ring. And why is it that very few of these folks with creative names have a review?

I guess what I am asking of the Miss Manner's of this blog is: Is there a way to cordially ask "So what's your name?" Oh, and if anyone has any experience with Black Adonis, I wouldn't mind hearing that as well.

Thanks

I ALWAYS ask for their real name (first name at least) and until I see it in writing. The romance is put on pre-heat!

If you ask nicely and in a non offensive, non threatening way...with the best charming smile you can muster...The E Guys do share their real name. One advise, I also tell them my real name. Truman Capote used the technique so successfully. You want to know about the person...Give the person some of your facts...

Good luck! :p

Actually, I think the escort's choice of name reflects a lot about who he is and what kind of service he gives.

An escort with both a first and last name sounds most reliable to me. It's someone who doesn't want to be confused with all the other "Joe"s or "Andy"s, but is confident enough of his service that he wants to be unique. (ex. Mike Grey, Jason Markus, Arpad Mikos -- the classic, dependable guys)

My second choice would fall to a guy who uses a first name that really is a name -- Adam, Peter, or Rick, or whatever. The problem with single name monikers is that they are easily confused. How many Adams and Chris's are there? It implies to me that the escort doesn't mind being confused with someone else. There several Adams, Davids, Michaels and Santiagos currently advertising on Rentboy. I wonder why they don't want to distinguish themselves. I wonder particularly in the cases like the really excellent escort called Adam, reviewed here as Adam #3. Why doesn't someone like that add a last name so he won't be confused with the others?

My last choice, would be someone who goes by something like "Island Boy" or "Thug". These kinds of names indicate someone who is only advertising temporarily. In fact, if you look at Rentboy, these kinds of names come and go a lot, and the escort changes the moniker from time to time. I'm very suspicious of a guy who changes his name a lot. It must be that he doesn't want to be remembered by people who have had a bad experience. There's a guy advertising now as "William" who used to be "Vivien". I wouldn't hire him for several reasons, but among them is the fact that he has changed his name. Running from a bad reputation maybe?
