When I lived in England many years ago, I found that what was considered "hot" about a man--clothes, hair, grooming, body type, mannerisms, etc.--was subtly different from the New York style I was accustomed to. It took me a while to readjust my perceptions. Then when I came back to the US, gay men here looked odd to me for weeks. Sadly, I think those kinds of differences are disappearing as the "International Gay Style" takes over everywhere in Europe.
