Ok - got a question for both escorts and those who enjoy the company of us workin' boys ... where are the best cities for a travelling escort to find work? I have been thinking about taking a working vacation and maybe hitting a few burgs and meeting some friendly men. So escorts: where have you gone that you've had FUN and made a bundle of dough? Pride season is approaching. Pride events always have newly/recently "out" people at them. People go to Pride in the mood to have fun, kick up their heels, etc. Doing a tour of Pride and other gay events around the country would be fun for you and likely put you in proximity to prospective clients.

You are posting in the Deli, which I guess will hopefully get a few clients to suggest (as one already did) that you come to a city and they may hire you. From an escort perspective, even though you did not post this in ASK AN ESCORT, both Boston and Washington, D.C. are good cities to travel for given these provisos:

 

You cannot advertise in Boston, at least not in a local gay paper, so it is harder to get clients there than elsewhere. The way to do it would be through an AOL account, a traveling listing on Rent Boy or Men 4 Rent Now or elsewhere, or by advertising here. That said, I enjoy Boston, it is a great city, easy to get around without a car (and as a native New Yorker, I am sure you will appreciate that) and you are near Provincetown, so during the summer, you can make a short ferry boat trip to the cape for your own R&R.

 

D.C. is an excellent city to advertise in and, as the client noted, for whatever reason, the local talent has a bad reputation. Chicago and D.C. are cities I have visited the most, but I would need to be honest and say that D.C. is not a particularly "fun" city, unless you enjoy the monument/museum/historical aspect. I definitely think one visit is well worth it.

 

In your case, I think some of the other nearby cities (Philadelphia, for example) would be good to visit and, as you should know, many New York escorts visits Miami and Fort Lauderdale, especially in the winter. Of course, in such cities you will also have more competition for the clients.

 

Finally, I would arrange your trips to arrive on a Wednesday and leave on a Sunday or Monday. In my experience, clients rarely look at the start of the week. Be prepared to see multiple clients in one day or be prepared to make less money than you might at home, when you take into account transportation costs, hotel, food, and entertainment. I personally only visit cities I really have an interest in seeing, so that I feel as if my expense, both time and financially, were well worth it.

I agree with Chuck.

 

Vegas has a nice combo of an easily fillable schedule, along with more entertainment than you can shake a showgirl at. While i'm aware that Vegas has had it's fair share of PD problems in the past, i still think it's a good city for a traveling escort if they're looking for a little bit of everything.

 

Gay life in Vegas is still bleak at best, with Gypsy, The 'Fruit Loop,' Krave and other dive bars still being the only options. I hear that they're finally going to open a gay ultra-lounge (8 1/2) and a new dance bar (Toxic) in the coming weeks. Also look Downtown for the Glitter Gulch's first gay/drag showbar called 'Celebrity.' Not quite sure when it's opening, but they're obviously putting quite a bit of money into the place.

 

Wherever you choose to go, just remember to be safe and have a really good time... Oh, and save more than you spend

Can't say much about your end of the biz. Can make these comments:

 

Gay Pride: California is loaded with gay pride festivals in June. You could tour any number of the larger cities then and be in the way of a ton of guys. (Palm Springs is the exception; theirs is on Halloween if I'm not mistaken). I do travel to some of them for other reasons, so I can put you onto web info about what happens when (private mail me if you like).

 

I remember more than one escort who toured here, going from LA to SF with their boyfriends in tow. I had an easier time hiring in LA since it's a bigger "scene" to my mind (more porn studios, more models, more actors, more waiters) so maybe getting hired there is a decent bet. And of course, for selfish reasons, I'll make a case for SF, but it is also gay-central, especially around Gay Pride time.

 

(And of course, EastBayGuy says Arizona is starving for escorts...)

 

One escort here said timing his ads before his arrival in a town was important. In LA, he twiddled his thumbs more than he wanted and got calls as he was driving back up to SF, poor guy. He seemed to think clients looked at his ad, then thought about it a few days, then called, which sounds about what I do.
