There have been other posts about it in a couple of places, figured I'd start a new one in the right place (I guess...) for client discussion of it, especially as I read the backlash against the $400/hr established types. Also there seems to be real interest, have had a couple emails from forum readers looking for more info on Craigslist or contact info for somebody I've posted about--I hope they'll post their experiences into this thread too!

 

Just today there has been quite a lot (for Craigslist) of M4M activity on Craigslist|Los Angeles|Erotic Services. Even a couple bottoms...

There are a good number of other cities available as well, I've only got experience with LA.

 

It does have a couple annoying points... It's not a very quick way to set something up (it's best to email anyone that interests you, even if their post is very vague, establish attraction/preferences/rates then get a phone number, so you don't have to play email tag when you are actually trying to set something up OR you could write up a post, just be sure to give it at least the better part of a day to work before the time you wanted to get together). Also, you're probably not going to get somebody with pornstar looks or experience, but you are often going to find things available in the area of $100-$150, and it's heaven-sent if you want college students/guys next door, especially if you're a bottom or looking for mutual oral at most. If you're looking to top it takes some extra patience, but that's also available. It's also a great place to arrange a 'happy ending' massage, often as low as $50-$60. A lot of providers in Hollywood (of course) and 310, but I haven't had too much trouble getting the Hollywood ones to come up to the north San Fernando Valley area.

 

A lot of people insist on pictures when they get into Craigslist, it took me a while but now I realize it's much better to get a good accurate description then a 10 year old vague picture... As for the providers that insist on a pic from the client, I skip them. But I do give a accurate and entirely unflattering description of myself. I have yet to feel the provider was even disappointed with my looks, let alone have a bad experience. And I haven't had any problem with their descriptions of themselves not being accurate (they'd get a goodbye on arrival if I did...).

 

I really think the key to enjoying my experiences with guys from Craigslist (or maybe with any escort) was that I got over my shyness and took some control of the situation, at the very least during the setup. You should mention in your emails the amount of time you were hoping to spend, maybe how much you'd like to pay (maybe as a question). In a separate paragraph mention what you 'like to do'... something like you love to kiss, give or receive oral, etc (remember, the money is for time/companionship not sexual acts...).

 

Even once they arrived I wasn't too shy about suggesting we go back to my room as soon as they got there, undressing them (though you should have seen my hand and even my leg--like a dog as you scratch his ear, shake as I undressed last night's experience), suggesting a change of position/activity, etc. You're the customer, you are always right! ;o)

 

Each of the three I've hired so far from CL was looking to please, looking to make a loyal repeat customer. As long as they have some idea what you'd like to do before hand and tentatively agree to it, and you're clean, I don't think you'll have any problems. God knows I'm no prize, but have had more fun with each of the 3 (paid about $150/ea) then the $300/hr escort/pornstar I hired from his reviews (not that he didn't try too, my inexperience then was a big part I'm sure).

You know, having also read the recent threads about Craig's List, I've been snooping around the San Francisco/Bay Area edition. There are quite a few M4M posts here as well, but when you start reading them closely, you realize they seem to mostly be the same guys over and over... despite the hundreds of posts in the alotted 10 day period, I'd say that there are actually less than 15 different men posting.

One thing to keep in mind, Craigslist SF was the original, so it's the most established, and the most likely to be used by 'pros' and to have cops taking a look at it. I think LA was the second, and it's helped out by proximity to SF where it's better known.

 

On CL-LA there are a couple repeat posters (Shane Moore comes to mind, I'd love to try him but somebody posted a bad mention of him in the massage section...), though I haven't seen most daily male re-posters continue for more then a week or so yet... But I don't mind continuous posters that much, especially if there is something about their posts which makes it easy to see it's the person you've already contacted. The thing to watch out for is if the stats or something else important changes...

 

Cops could be a problem, and whomever sent "all I need is your offer and your address." was a rank amateur... either escort or cop... ;o)

Certainly be weary, keep the $$$ separate from the acts, and try and get them to do the offering. All in all, I don't expect there are a lot of cops trolling CL because in a place like LA, and especially with outcall, there would be jurisdictional issues, and it would seem like a lot to go through if you hadn't explicitly agreed to a crime in email (I think they would have to your house undercover with backup and monitoring). Even for incall the one or two they may catch probably doesn't justify the trouble of setting up the sting. I'd say just be vague as hell (not to mention holding onto the $$$) until you're positive they're not a cop (though at the same time you want the escort to have a good idea what you'd like to do). Best of all is to pay after the session, and not one of the 3 CL 'amateurs' I've been with have asked that I pay up front. I'm no expert on police though (luckily!).

I've seen their posts a couple times, sounded pretty hot but I wouldn't be into paying to service somebody... those that are have a great selection on CL, that's for sure. I've had 3 guys from CL over to my place (one twice), I find it far more comfortable and easier to get into the fun then being at some motel. The good thing about CL is you could keep it completely anonymous if you wanted to, though I think you may be a little more likely to be stood up. Not difficult at all though if you wish to go to an incall.

 

If you want somebody to come to your home you'll have to give out some info eventually, but if you post what you're looking for and use CL's anonymous email thing, replying from a new hotmail or yahoo account, you can get pretty comfortable with the person before you take the final step and give them some personal info. Another good CL experience...

 

Not great, but fine for the price... had an in-call massage in Burbank for $60. CL is a mixed bag, and it definitely got worse once an "erotic services" section was added. I think that the focus when there was just a massage section was on "erotic masseurs" (massage with release). Now that escort services can be advertised directly, many pathetic types post over and over. I personally don't see the appeal of someone who says he needs the money for rent or he wouldn't otherwise be hiring himself out for sex. Many of the guys on CL come across as, I assume, a desperate "street walker" would. I'm sure that holds some appeal for others, but not for me. I definitely am not attracted by someone who conducts himself like a hustler (wants my picture first, gives few details about himself, wants my phone number right away because email is a "hassle," etc).

 

As Trixie noted, many of the same guys post over and over again. In my opinion most of the ads do not even pique my interest enough for me to email them.
