Its certainly not my place to ask someone to shave, but is it tactful to ask

I don't see why the request should lack tact. If clean shaven is your thing, then it's important to mention that to someone who shows both options in their photos. However, it would be foolish to assume that gay men don't take their every day appearance seriously, or take it lightly.

Most of the sexually active gay men I know are very serious about their sexual prowess, and that includes the message they deliberately send with their chosen physical appearance. Trend or not, if a gay guy is sporting facial hair, there's typically a reason. You need to find out how flexible someone is with this issue.

I imagine some guys would view the request as a financial incentive. If you offered me $100+ to shave my beard for our appointment, I would probably say yes. But that's me.

I have more than once requested a shave.

I think the dude even agreed to it. Both upstairs and downstairs.

I think his name was AlphaFantasy

He let me shave him below. He couldnt stay soft, which made it all the more hot.

(I also have a barber fetish, though)

I've thought about this today and the shaving thing, while not something I generally think about, given how much I love body hair, is super hot because (given my preferences) it's SOOOO transgressive! And I think for many of us, it's the defiance of norms that is soooo hot. Thanks for sharing this. I find it very hot.

Ironically and coincidentally, I met with one of my favorites recently and guess what?  He showed up rocking a beard (new style) that I've never seen before (he has been clean shaven in all of our previous meetings).  I was exceedingly and pleasantly surprised by the new look & style as if I was meeting with a different version of the same person.  The kiss felt completely different (and stimulating) and I loved running my fingers over his bearded face, not to mention when other oral/facial/lips activities were involved.  To me, it was a huge bonus.  But I do understand if you hate a beard and that person shows up with a beard without prior notifications, it would be a serious turnoff.
