RE: Stupid Consumer? NAH!!!

Thanks again jizz. lol. These posters who are so for The Gaiety like CZ and what it currently has to offer really amuse me. Again he and others sway from the point of my message here. Would you continue to go to a restaurant where you were treated rudely by the waitors just because the food was good? If you were the manager of the restaurant, are you going to ignore how the waitors are mistreating your patrons and let the waitors continue to work there? That makes no sense to me and is not a way I would run a business. I guess if you are into S&M and being insulted and humiliated Kirk and JT are the ones for you. I can just picture Kirk holding Traveller down and saying 'Is this what you want homo? Then pay for it homo.' 'Yes Kirk oh great one. Anything you say'.

While I sit on one side of this discussion I certainly see both sides and I think we can agree to disagree.

I don't understand your analogy though. I certainly wouldn't revisit the restaurant if this had occured and management did nothing about it. However if the waiter also worked at the corner drugstore and treated me rudely there, I would not stop going to an excellent restaurant just because he also worked there. I probably would insist that I not be seated in his area and certainly would complain to the manager of the drugstore.

RE: The Jurassic Era at the Gaiety

HA HA!! I KNEW there was a reason I thought of Jurassic Park the last time I went to the Gaiety. I was thinking of the customers as Jurassic, but CZ has given a whole new lease on the prehistoric image for me:

"I, personally, find it exciting to watch a beautiful & ruthless predator performing just a few feet from my person (& my purse). After all, you get risk-free thrills & chills out of it--rather like watching a tiger in the zoo." Or a velociraptor. Which in JP3 has evolved the power of verbal communication, just like some of our Gaiety boys occasionally do! And evidently with much the same purpose!

The Gaiety (which I dearly love, Denise and Kirk and the Turbaned Wonder and the fat guy who sometimes gives Denise presents and all) as Jurassic Park: ancient relics come back to life (if briefly for some) and ruthless predators served up for our thrills. Who needs Spielberg?

I *have* returned to restaurants where service wasn't great but the food was. I found out that one waiter wasn't indicative of the entire establishment.

And as a manager, I'm also aware that bad customers can also cause bad interactions between wait-staff and the public. I may address a chronic problem, but not if I'm having trouble getting enough waiters in the first place. The guy who routinely shows up, puts in his required time, serves his required tables, and is reliable over time is far more valuable to a restraunt owner than the flake who everyone loves but can't be relied on to show up when expected.

Dude,

I'm much taller than Kirk, I lift weights 3 or 4 times a week and I swim a mile 3 or 4 times week. Physical intimidation by an escort is just not in my lexicon. Altho the scenario sounds like big fun for our next encounter.

Later.

PS. With the right attitude, guy, you can have a great time with almost anyone. And when they're as good looking, built and hung as Kirk, ya know what, it's worth a little extra effort the first time to reel them in. Think positive, it may surprise you.

RE: Stupid Consumer? NAH!!!

Save yourself the trip. He's been performing online at videosecrets.com forever. They (or one of the affiliates like bedfellow) likely still have plenty of photo spreads and videos online. He was also in one episode of Queer as Folk on Showtime.

He *is* a rather gorgeous specimen, and I'd probably enjoy seeing him dance very much. But you sure as hell don't need to go to NYC to see him.

RE: Embittered Consumer? Maybe.

I'm afraid something really, really awful must have happened to Jizz at the Gaiety--otherwise he wouldn't carry on so about the place, and with a huffiness I don't recall from his other postings. What's more, it sounds like he's got it in for Denise personally rather than any of the dancers (though, if I'm wrong about that, I'd be curious to know what charmer it was who left behind such bitter memories.) Whatever the provocation, I find Jizz uncharacteristically off-point in much of what he says.

For instance, he's so determined to paint Denise as sloppy & indifferent in going about her business that he won't even concede how hard it is to put together (and hold together)

the card every week. If it's really as easy as he implies, and such an alluring job prospect for an escort, how come D won't even say who's dancing until moments before the first show starts on Monday? (Answer: what with dancer flakiness, the INS, unpredictable weather & what have you, she can't be sure who's dancing herself till they're finally all assembled and ready to go.)

Then we get the strangely gratuitous swipes:

>does Denise search for dancers

>with the same energy with

>which she procurs some of

>the dullest, grainiest porno ever

>produced?

Jeez, Jizz, all in my decades of Gaiety-going, I have yet to watch 'the video portion of our show,' so I'll have to take your word for it. (You REALLY insist on your twelve bucks' worth, don't you?)

Then, when I ask to hear from those with some track record in hiring escorts (as opposed to those who just talk about it) he asserts

>that would be me and many

>others on this board i

>assume

which is fair enough--as long as he doesn't assume that 'many' is the same as 'most' (While I can't prove it--and no one can DISprove it--I suspect there's more window-shopping going on

here than you'd find in front of Tiffany's at Christmas.)

Then, apparently failing to see the difference between a $12 admission charge and what it costs him to put in two or three hours at Stella's (without even meeting anything like the array of talent on view around the corner) he offers the non-sequitur assurance that 'it's possible to figure out if a date is going to work with a clothed companion.' Well, yes. But I was comparing the Gaiety and a hustler bar in terms of the cost, speed and efficiency of the shopping you can do in each locale. Why, I've often handed over my $15 on marathon nights at the Gaiety just to see the grand finale & then interview two or three hot picks in the Green Room immediately afterward. Money spent: a dollar a dancer for a full-body look-see plus chat. Time spent: 20 minutes or less.

Moreover, if you can tell if someone is going to rip you off by talking to him briefly in a bar, I wonder why you can't do the very same thing at the Gaiety--where, BTW, other patrons are much more likely to steer you away from a lousy prospect than fellow-boozers in a bar would.

Finally, this odd bit of advice:

>better yet. head down to the

>Port Authority several blocks away.

>blindfold yourself, wave bills in

>large denominations and get your

>rocks off.

But, judging from past threads--here, and especially in the Street Trade & Hustlers forum--I was under the impression that Jizz enjoyed hunting in the Port Authority jungle (and environs) just as much (and just as prudently) as I already do. Or did I get that wrong?

So, c'mon, Jizz, what's the story? Why so vehement in putting down Denise & her little danceteria?

RE: Embittered Consumer? Maybe.

The owner of the Howard Johnsons owns the entire building. I looked into and found out he has been leasing the space out to Denise, and her current lease ends in 2002.

Sorry CZ but not everybody sees the same benefits of The Gaiety in 2001 as you and have seen the place totally change for the worse. It has nothing to do with Giuliani like many have said. Those of us who have been going there for years remember when she had two dancers on the stage at once and before the grand finale. The place has gone downhill and is full of too many posers with a lot of attitude and very little to offer for your money. Yea you get to see a group of hot but mostly straight naked guys work the runway. If all I was interested in was seeing hot nude guys dancing, I would go and pay to see "Naked Boys Singing". I hear they sing and dance too. This post is for those of us who have stuck with Denise and her theatre through the years only to be getting an entirely different show and atmosphere for our patronage. The dancers may be buffer but they're straighter and less likely to put out in the bedroom. That's the reality of it no matter what you try to say, and now to make it worse she is allowing pretty boy con artists rob the customers and treat them in an insulting manner. Do you ever wonder why we're not even offered a 'tentative schedule' of who will be dancing? It's not to keep us in suspense. She just doesn't care and doesn't want to be bothered. I also found out how she ended up managing the space where the Gaiety is, but that is too personal to appropriately post here. I now know the kind of person she really is. She's making what money she can before the lease ends and the cost of rent goes up. By then, the space will be rented out to someone else. It will become another 'regular' theatre most likely. Then eventually the entire building may get torn down and rebuilt.

RE: Pic of Kirk

BgMst4u: that was terrific and a reality blow. The world has changed unfortunately and the Gaiety takes us back to another time and way of doing business. One that I hope will never come to an end. I only get to NYC and the G. two or three times a year but I savour every moment of the joint. It is Jurassic Park, and I love it. It also has never been better than recently. Far more muscle and better bodies, except the back room is long gone, and probably just as well. I just hope 2002 is not the end of this adventure.

Dude, you're still responding from another planet.

You know, I had a long response written but I deleted it before posting it. You think Denise is supposed to only deliver to you guys who are great in bed (which is actually YOUR job) and I say she's just supposed to put pretty guys on stage.

We've gone around the block twice with this argument, and neither of us is going to sway the other. I declare it done. We agree to disagree. OK?

Stick a fork in it. It's done.

Still Not Stupid! Thanks!

>huffiness I don't recall from his other postings...

sometimes I'm in a huff, sometimes I'm not. while writing my latest post, i was mad.

>What's more, it sounds like he's got it in for Denise personally...

i'm not thrilled about the disdain (maybe just an extreme NYC 'tude) with which Denise treats me and other guests but i have no animosity toward or vendetta against her.

>rather than any of the dancers...

actually i had a mediocre time the one time i dated a dancer from the gaiety--not negative enough to post a bad review and not good enough to want to engage him again. i think my posts referred to two dancers, namely Kirk/Voltaire and JT.

>he won't even concede how hard it is to put together (and hold together) the card every week...

not true. i never thoroughly addressed this. i've always enjoyed my time at the Gaiety and seen some really beautiful performers. since we don't know what the dancers are paid, we have no way of saying how hard it is to attract reliable workers. i imagine it's lucrative to dance at the Gaiety and mingle with patrons privately.

>yet to watch 'the video portion of our show...

actually i'm mostly ammused by the porno presented at the Gaiety and am now more careful to show up just a few minutes before a show.

>difference between a $12 admission charge and ... two or three hours at Stella's (without even meeting anything like the array of talent on view around the corner...

well, no doubt the boys at the Gaiety are very glamorous. the full nudity and ability of these boys to get and maintain an erection while performing is pretty special. other posters on other threads have talked about the difference between some very spectacular performers and their interest/ability to perform privately and the difficulty in sizing someone up in the lounge...

most people do not account for their lost wages while they relax in a bar. i have sometimes spent 15 minutes at Stella's and sometimes 2 hours. actually, i'm not real hopeful about engaging escorts at Stella's either.

>if you can tell if someone is going to rip you off by talking to him briefly in a bar, I wonder why you can't do the very same thing at the Gaiety...

>CZ (in an earlier post)...check out talent in the raw (while learning virtually everything else you need to know about them)...

i'm mindful of the energized and hungry state I've frequently experienced at the Gaiety after viewing some special dancers. coupled with difficulty in communicating quickly in the lounge, i think you overstate a guest's assurance of engaging a good date at the Gaiety.

>Finally, this odd bit of advice: ... better yet. head down to the Port Authority several blocks away. blindfold yourself, wave bills in large denominations and get your rocks off.

>But, judging from past threads... Jizz enjoyed hunting in the Port Authority jungle (and environs)...

>CZ (in an earlier post)... I, personally, find it exciting to watch a beautiful & ruthless predator performing just a few feet from my person (& my purse). After all, you get risk-free thrills & chills out of it--rather like watching a tiger in the zoo. And seen that way, Kirk makes for a lot better Gaiety headliner than that drearily commodified and very gay-friendly icon, Mark Wolff. (I think Denise ought to charge more on Kirk nights.)

I do enjoy papi-hunting at the Port Authority and surrounding areas. I do it with some measure of common sense, am aware of where my cash is and how much I am carrying and try to gauge the risk I am taking at any moment while hunting on the streets.

I don't think my hyperbolically-endowed advice is so odd given your comment earlier about enjoying proximity to an alleged rip-off artist performing at the Gaiety.

>So, c'mon, Jizz, what's the story? Why so vehement in putting down Denise & her little danceteria?

i like the Gaiety and have enjoyed myself there. i wish the environs were nicer but i acknowledge that guests get a lot for a $15 admission fee (i'd be willing to plunk down $25 for a cleaner theatre with repaired or new seats, also.) i've, on a few occasions, had pleasant short chats with Denise about her iBook (we're both Mac afficionados) and a stray cat she feeds (i do the same in my neighborhood). at other times, i have seen Denise be markedly abrupt with me and other guests.

i don't know how lucrative her pay is and whether it is really worth her while to both ensure that patrons are happy with all the dancers and that she has an adequate pool of available dancers.

i still suggest that, aware of the business relation between the Gaiety and what dancers do when engaged privately by clients, management at the Gaiety might make an effort to not engage alleged ripoff artists and that guests might suggest Denise do so.

that is what this thread is all about, i believe. if you have any other conjectures about my motivation, please feel free to respond. i thought i had been fairly clear in my earlier posts.

Let's try wrapping this up, OK?

Jizz, I don't think you've been as clear in your posts as you think. And it's hard to imagine a third party making complete sense of this last one either. (Even though I can recognize my words when you quote them, I'm pretty confused by what you must think are clear and pointed responses to them. I'm afraid the 'reasoning'--to me, anyway--is a good deal less than coherent.)

Even so, when all is said & done, you seem to be far more in agreement with me than with Readi4Boi. (Who'd have thunk?)

It turns out: you do like going to the Gaiety after all; you're willing to believe that putting together a card there might be tough (despite your much earlier post--which I suggest you reread); you're impressed by the physical beauty of many of the dancers; you freely acknowledge a patron gets his money's worth watching the show; and--perhaps most striking of all--you can personally attest to Denise's more personal & pleasant side. In addition to that: you agree that shopping at Stella's isn't necessarily a better path to customer satisfaction, and that papi hunting at the PA can be an exciting (and sexually satisfying) venture, as long as you're street-smart enough to do it right.

Having recognized that we're of one mind regarding all that, I still don't understand two things: what you mean specifically about Denise's alleged disdain & contempt for her customers, and why you--normally independent in thought in opinion--would be so quick to hop on the indignation bandwagon regarding Kirk or JT when you have no direct knowledge of either of them, and then use them to launch what certainly looked like an all-out campaign to boycott the Gaiety.

But perhaps we should return to the remote origin of this now-shredded thread--NYGuy's beef against JT, and Denise's alleged promise to see that justice would be done & restitution made.

And so I ask anyone who knows: is JT dancing this week (as Readi implied in the first post), and what happened to NYGuy's civil suit against him? And, while we're at it, is Kirk still there?

I have gone to the Gaiety for years. I have also had a horrible experience with Kirk. But, I don't hold that against Denise. I think Kirk dances great. That is why I went with him. I would never do anogther private with him. I haven't been to the Gaiety as much in the past few years. I still go ocassionally. I still like the show. I see it for what it is. And, what it is not. Boy is a better man than me for not going to the place again. Hats off to you! When I go, I tip all the boys. When I see Kirk, I simply leave the area until he is finished. I guess we all protest in our own way. Best of luck Boy!

Photo of the Evil Kirk?

Could someone post a pix of this evil Kirk that is talked about so often. This will help us avoid the scum bag as I worry he also goes by other names. Perhaps at least Denise is doing us a favour by staging him under his rightful name. Still a pix would be very helpful. No doubt he has been Sansified.

Nah!!

actually, CZ, i found your creative analysis of my reply amusing, unnecessary and flawed. i had taken some measure of care in composing my reply and, pretty much, stand by it.

in hindsight, i might have been more clear that 1) i was using Denise as an icon for Gaiety management; regret if readers interpreted my disdain for Denise (contempt is another fiction introduced by CZ in his mis-analysis). 2) when i said i would patronize a new and improved Gaiety, my statement assumed that ripoff artists had been banned. i should have been more clear about this.

i do think we stand apart on the question of whether Gaiety patrons should or must stand by and tolerate ripoff artists. readers may simply re-read my post above if they have any other questions about my intention.

OK, have it your way, Jizz. But as you go about 'composing' your replies, I wish you'd consider toning down some of the florid stuff. It's getting a bit overwrought, I'd say. (Kinda reminiscent of Regina. . .) But keep us posted about how long you & Ready actually stay away from the Gaiety, OK?
