"End of days" shopping! What are YOU buying?

Prices for the essentials of living will not be coming down in the foreseeable future. Fuel, and everything that relies on it (which is everything) will continue to provide profits for executives and shareholders. If that makes everyone's lives difficult, it's merely an inconvenience we'll have to live with.

I did a similar shopping spree a few weeks ago: stocking up on household detergents and paper products and canned foods.  I was pleasantly surprised how much further my dollar seemed to go this year than last year.  I'm not keeping records of the price of toilet paper and detergent, but I was pleasantly surprised to spend less than $200 on my latest trip to Costco for household staples, where last year I regularly spent over $400 each trip.

I don't think prices have come down by 50%.  I think I'm doing better at keeping my household in order and therefore buying fewer redundant products and losing less to spoilage than I was doing a year ago.
