Checkout “Adults” on Hulu.  A bit like Friends and Girls, but in the 2025s.  Who knew that kids in their 20s in NYC are still doing coke!

Your Friends & Neighbors - AppleTV

I'm watching it, but it doesn't make me laugh. Actually, it's a tragic story, getting more tragic by the episode.

Hacks- HBO

As I said on the Hacks thread, I gave it a try and lost interest. I may re-visit it one day. I do not enjoy the lead gay character.

I found I was only able to take Larry David in very small doses. I do recognize his enormous talent. Were there any gays on that show?

I don't know the other 3. The commercials for Righteous Gemstones drive me crazy. I don't see myself ever giving that one a chance.

I'm not entirely ready to give up on the classic sit-com formula. Certain episodes of I Love Lucy still make me laugh today.

Clearly, we don't share the same sense of humor.

And do all shows NEED gay characters to be enjoyed?  Not for me.

I'm sure I might laugh with you sitting next to me as we watch your favorite shows. (blush)

Absolutely not. But gay men are so interesting, funny, entertaining and fascinating. Given the amount of money spent on streaming, I wish there was more high quality content featuring gay characters. A girl can dream...

My best friend texted me and said she's binging it, and though a lot of it is silly and stupid, there is a lot of funny stuff, and some lines that made her laugh out loud.

I binge watched it, mostly to see the scenes with Zane Phillips, but, alas, he was fully clothed in all of them.

Some of it was laugh out loud funny, much of it reminded me why I generally avoid sitcoms.

There were a few dance numbers, and it has to be said that Matt Bomer is not only handsome as hell, he can move his body in beautiful ways.

So I finished mid-century modern there were two episodes that were incredibly stupid but still there were a lot of very funny lines and it was nice seeing her.

pretty crazy that she died while filming the series. There were only two episodes left so I guess they wrote that into the series. They did a good job of it.

It would have been an uphill climb to try a different direction without Linda Lavin.

I totally agree. Linda was by far the best part of the series.

Patti LuPone is sassy enough to carry it off but they would need to find a way to write her in somehow

Linda Lavind's character dies.  Lupone comes out for the funeral as her estranged sister looking for an inheritance.  When there is none she refuses to leave the guest room.  Just as sassy and just as stereotypically Jewish but an aunt rather than a mother.  Down the road it can come out that LuPone is actually his mother as she got pregnant at a young age and her sister took in the child and they agreed that she was his "mother".  For a bit of a twist, LuPone is divorced and now living as a lesbian.
