Requesting to massage the masseur/therapist

How do you usually approach the masseur? Do you just ask him out of the blue?

And when you do, do you include that as part of the “session,” or is it more like “extra free time” afterward?

I have asked masseurs if they every receive massages themselves; that opens the conversations up; I may say that I am an amateur but do have a table, and it ends up us trading places; it's great fun!
