The Met Christmas Tree

Of all the holiday trees in NYC my all time favorite and the one I consider the most beautiful is at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. 
With hundreds of 18th century Italian figures surrounding the base of the tree and hosts of angels flying from its branches, you can spend hours looking at it.

When I was a young punk in New York, I always thought the Met Christmas was nothing more than pure schmaltz. Now as a mature adult male, I enjoy stopping by to pay my respects every Christmas season. It is truly grand. Thank you for reminding me.

I recently learned this interesting fact - the Met Christmas tree has to be artificial.  A real tree in the museum poses the threat of insects leaving the tree and damaging the works of art
