+ WSPigBrooklyn Posted September 21, 2024 Posted September 21, 2024 Did Rentmen change its layout (again!) today or is something up with my browser? I find it difficult to navigate the site.
SoCalBaseball Posted September 21, 2024 Posted September 21, 2024 I think they changed it again. The old layout is always the best because it is always that feel of familiarity and comfort. The functionality has been flaky. There's something about simplicity and structure they have trouble with. Not everything needs to be changed or keep changing. In a world constantly moving fast, old layouts stands as a testament sometimes what is working is working no need to copy Grindr + WSPigBrooklyn and jackcali 1 1
maninsoma Posted September 23, 2024 Posted September 23, 2024 What are you seeing that's different? I just checked both rentmen.eu and rent.men on a desktop computer and didn't notice anything different.
+ WSPigBrooklyn Posted September 25, 2024 Author Posted September 25, 2024 Whatever happened to the site the past couple days seems to have resolved itself and the view is now back to what it was. Pictures were oversized and could not fit on the same page. Selection bar was at the bottom rather than top of page. No switching from list view to grid view etc.
SirBillybob Posted September 27, 2024 Posted September 27, 2024 (edited) Well I learned something interesting. I don’t use the platform much. I had always used dot eu, at least since it emerged, rather than the newer dot men. However, I wanted to edit a review (positive feedback type) shortly following submitting said review due to a minor omission that I forgot to add. BTW, I always ask for permission to submit a review and knock on wood so far have had no reason to be displeased by an encounter that emanated from an ad platform. It was not mission critical but I reached out to the help desk out of curiosity and the team patched me thru to dot men. I was puzzled by the lack of an org, com, country code suffix but so be it. However, the dot men version was emphasized as superior and the review management function is only accessible on dot men, not dot eu. Lo and behold, I gained access to the aforementioned review. That said, the dot men version, unbeknownst to me and in contrast to the dot eu platform, seemed to contain a lengthy and cluttered history, going back years in fact including reviews of long retired providers, that I cleaned up just to get whatever content lacking utility out of the way. So, torn? Not yet. I guess it’s dot men going forward but I am an infrequent browser. I probably, compared to most, pay a greater fraction of platform fees compared to the composite of said fees and platform-sourced provider charges incurred by most other punters. I think that I have messaged no more than 5 advertisers so far this year that culminated in a few guys that landed into in-person meeting territory. I tend towards a shortlist-and-repeat consumer fidelity model and a very small contingent of chaps hitting a very decent regular payday. The majority of my hiring is not sourced from ad platforms. I also learned, to illustrate here my skill deficit, to block my viewing history that has in the past triggered a response such as: “hey I noticed you checked me out”. When I shop I’m open to security guards monitoring my moves but not keen on shopkeep hovering. Edited September 27, 2024 by SirBillybob + WSPigBrooklyn and Hot4latin 1 1
LostUpstate Posted October 8, 2024 Posted October 8, 2024 And now rentmen has stopped taking payments using a Visa card just like its sister site rentmasseur. I tried to renew using American Express, but they don’t accept it. Only MasterCard or crypto, I don’t have either, so now I don’t pay for premium membership on the sites. I don’t think it’s a good business plan. I’m not going to get a MasterCard just so I can subscribe.
SirBillybob Posted October 8, 2024 Posted October 8, 2024 (edited) I would have no problem with Rentmen leaving the scene. Hunqz through Romeo Plus works just fine and my last annual fee was 85 Euros. Mastercard, but I see no evidence that they refuse other major card carriers. Many European providers straddle both platforms, as I do as a client, and undertake the burden of cost of two systems simply due to there being these two major sites and FOMO on good matches on either side of the booking equation. Shows up as “Romeo” on statement. Edited October 8, 2024 by SirBillybob
SirBillybob Posted October 9, 2024 Posted October 9, 2024 (edited) Romeo / Hunqz : Visa or Mastercard the only credit cards accepted, as of now anyway Edited October 9, 2024 by SirBillybob
