Escort Boys on Amazon Prime

Recommended Posts

Has anyone watched this series? Doesn’t look like there’s any gay content but I’m intrigued by the trailer. My list of shows to watch is already very long though….

Rotten Tomatoes doesn’t seem to have any ratings for it.

It doesn't premiere on Amazon until January 12.

Amazon Prime Video looks to conquer new ground with its raunchy French soap 'Escort Boys,' boasting an eye-candy cast and grown-up jokes.

The series is already out on Prime, I watched all of the episodes available.  The boys only escort for women; there is a fair amount of male nudity, if you like that sort of thing.  I found the story and characters engaging and entertaining.

I binged the series last week and found it entertaining. No word yet on whether it will be renewed for a second season. I found the English dubbing to be very good and not distracting in the least.

There wasn't, but the finale hinted at the possibility with one of the characters. That was one of the cliffhangers.

Did you compare it to the original ?

I always find overdubbing to be clumsy...and since I am somewhat proficient in several languages I catch translations to be WAYYY off their mark in many, many films.

I remember one of the worst was a scene in "Downfall" where a character actually said (in German) "I will always cherish the memory of our time together" and the translation was " I will remember our time together". Sucking out much of the romance and poetry of the moment in an important scene.

No

Then may I ask why you felt the dubbing was "good" if you had nothing to compare it to ?

I rather thought it was annoying that they dubbed it. I much prefer to listen to the actual actor's voice and inflections

I’m not sure that’s fair. It’s possible to find dubbed voice acting enjoyable… convincing and somewhat in sync with the characters speaking. Hack-job dubbing is bad at both of those. The only reason to compare would be to see if the translation holds up well?  But if you speak the language, you wouldn’t be watching a dubbed show to begin with.

I saw The Boy and the Heron and an Italian flick recently, dubbed. Both were good. And I say that as someone who hates dubbing (but needed to placate another person).

Thanks to those who have given feedback on the show.

Thought Escort Boys was fun - nothing memorable by any means but good enough to watch, if only for the hot men - if it gets renewed, judging by the last episode, there will definitely be gay content in season 2. On a similar wavelength, also on prime video/amazon, Alphonse, is a 1000 times better. Probably one of my favorite series in 2023. Much smarter, wittier, darker and with far more interesting and full rounded characters.

I just watched it. Decent, but I wouldn’t recommend going out of one’s way.
The repeated derogatory use of the term “whore” was annoying. The dubbing was not great. But overall, a light, sexy romp.

I finished it last night. Lots of interesting perspective into the lives and dynamics of being an escort, albeit a bit different in m4m context vis-a-vis straight gigolos in this series. It hit close to home for me because I do this work in part to help keep my fledgling farm afloat.

Plenty of scenic montages of salt flats country in what I am assuming is the south of France. Great musical score. Charming and sweet at times. Unbelievable at other times.

A lot of it is unrealistic or overdone but the tensions the characters have with the work and how it impacts their lives was refreshing to see explored on screen, especially for men.

I was struck by a lot of the moments the series explores the very real and very human needs and emotions involved for the clients and sex workers. I feel like I have had all of these clients myself, but men:

1) trans man needing a safe place for his first time. Or a cisgender virgin needing the same.

2) businessman not wanting to chat or connnect much, just be physical and get what he needs outside his marriage that his spouse can’t or won’t provide, sometimes with the spouse’s full knowledge and consent.

3) client that hires me to seduce his spouse in public to make the spouse feel special, attractive, and worthy after having a hard time following a major trauma or medical event.

4) client that hires me for a business dinner only as a facade, not really for sex.

5) the client who can’t afford me but scrapes and saves to have one really special experience.

etc, etc. I see some of all my clients in these characters, although with men more of them are just wanting to get off and it’s less complicated most of the time compared to many of the women client characters.

Overall, I liked it.
