sincitymix Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Ever time i pay off my cc I notice my credit score drops a few points, and when I keep debt on the card my score increases. 😤 I keep a very small balance on my cc that I roll over every month and my score either stays the same or increases. I personally hate debt, but I like my excellent rating credit score, so every points counts. Lotus-eater and + Vegas_Millennial 2

I personally hate debt, but I like my excellent rating credit score, so every points counts. Every point doesn't count unless you're planning to apply for credit, shopping for car insurance (depending on the state), etc. and you are near a cut-off to get a lower rate. And what's reported to the credit bureaus each month is the balance on the closing date, not whether you carry a balance and pay interest. So if you have a balance on the closing date (i.e. you don't pay it off before then) and pay it off each month before the due date, the effect is the same without having to pay interest charges.
