Question about reviews on websites Masseurfinder and Rentmasseur

Hyattsville

Recommended Posts

Trying to figure out which reviews to trust.
On Masseurfinder I noticed that it says "reviews gathered by (masseur name) from admiring massage clients to share with you"

Does that mean the masseur is supplying all of the reviews? How does that work?

On Rentmasseur there is a "submit review" button for each masseur, so can I assume that all those reviews are actually submitted by clients and not the masseurs?

Does anyone have info on this?

Reviews are monitored on MF, some things won't get through.  They are particular.  RM you need to establish contact with the massage therapist through their platform by sending email message, in order for a review to be validated.    Hope that helps. 😁

Also reviews on MF are submitted by the provider and not you as the client. So you would have to message/email your review to the provider and he submits it on your behalf. At least that’s how it was in the past.

So there will never be a negative review on Masseurfinder since the masseur is the one submitting them? That would make Rentmasseur reviews far more trustworthy, correct?

You could assume rentmasseur reviews are legit, but some could be made up either by the masseur himself or his friends.

Both sites unfortunately either edit the reviews or allow the masseurs to . What I mean is that negative reviews are usually not posted. This is the reason why forums like this one exist in the first place.

For the providers I tried (10-plus), I have found the majority of the RMass reviews to be inaccurate and uninformative, laced with vague adjectives and superlatives, and lacking in detail. It might be said that reviews of providers with, e.g., 20 or more, reviews have some validity. I’m dubious. One thing is clear about RMass: it generally screens out negative reviews.

After several run-ins with over-priced rub-and-tug providers, I completely ignore the RMass and MFind reviews and consult the CoM community.

Thank you fellas !!! :)

This is not so. We are not able to edit our reviews on Rentmasseur. Negative reviews are indeed posted and can only be removed by Rentmasseur support if they are proven to be false and malicious in nature.

RentMasseur does not screen out bad reviews. I read all the reviews daily and come across plenty of bad reviews weekly.

If I remember correctly when I advertised on MassageM4M from 2008-2016 if a client wrote a review about us then support would send us an email letting us know. At that point we had the ability to publish or reject the review. Rentmasseur is not that way, we do not have the ability to edit or reject the review. If the review is a false and malicious review with intent to discredit then we might be able to dispute that with the support team.

To be honest I don't trust reviews on either site. Only once in all the years that I have been hiring I have left a bad review and it was because it was a scam. I always check forums like this one to get info on a particular provider. Also I have had providers offer me a discount in exchange for a good review, so that could explain why I have had a below average experiences with a providers with many 5 star reviews.

Note that I said generally, as some small percentage of reviews on RMass are negative or neutral. Also, quite a few RMass providers require contact via text and will not reply to the RMass msg channels…thus once again buyers of services are led here to CoM.

On masseurfinder you can leave a review - but if it’s negative the provider is allowed to take it down. I emailed MF about this once and their reply was “the masseurs are our advertising clients, so if something negatively Impacts their ability to continue advertising on our site they are allowed to remove it.”   The masseurs’ interests are their interests. Which is why you never see negative reviews on MF. Provider gets a notification as soon as a review goes up and if it’s bad they just click “delete.”

^Yes, this is correct. MasseurFinder requires the client to email their review content to the masseur, and for the masseur to copy and paste the content to the site for their AI system to screen for sexual language, etc before MF will post it publicly on the client’s behalf.

MF tells us masseurs to keep records of the emails in case they audit us, should anything come into question. It’s a loosely goosey honor system with little accountability. The only accountability is the audit. Also, there’s nothing stopping a masseur from filtering out negative reviews a clients sends them. A client would be unlikely to email a negative review directly to the masseur in the first place. In theory, a masseur can make a fake email and send a review from that email to their regular email and then submit it to MF. I’ve never done this, but it occurred to me now that I’m thinking about it. That email trail, fabricated though it may be, would still pass the audit as far as I can tell. I only have two MF reviews, because they make it so difficult and roundabout for clients to leave reviews.

MF limits the number of reviews we can post in any given timeframe, like once a quarter, or once a month, at most - I can’t remember which.

MF is the least reliable review system because of the way it’s set up. You will see nothing but positive reviews on that platform. A masseur would literally have to intentionally post a negative review of himself for it to go through.

On RentMasseur, clients can post directly, and include negative comments without a hitch. The only catch is that the client has to have at least one mutual exchange with the masseur using RentMasseur’s messaging system before the site will allow the client to post a review. I haven’t had the need to remove a malicious review yet, so I don’t know the process for getting a review taken down. We are able to respond once briefly to the review comment, so we have the opportunity to clarify anything unfair or inaccurate about the review, such as the client demanded a huge discount that we never advertised or offered, or was a no-show, or did not book with us, or lied about something, demanded escort service for massage pricing, or was unreasonable or violent or threatening or whatever the case may be.

All my reviews are unsolicited. I asked one client one time for a review and he agreed to write one, but I felt gross about it, and the client never wrote the review and never saw me again, even though he said it was the best massage of his life and that he planned to return. I think the effort of writing a review was a barrier for him to return. Good clients take the time to write an unsolicited positive review and I truly appreciate when they do.

Since that one time, I’ve never asked for, much less incentivized, any reviews. My approach is that I have nothing to worry about since I know I do a great job and give every client my all. I take pride in my work, and my 100% unsolicited reviews stand on their own, typos and all. If anyone wants to post something wildly inaccurate or malicious for some reason, it will stand as the lone off color comment among many glowing reviews across a several platforms. The best place to review me is on Booksy. I have the most reviews there, and again it’s all 100% unsolicited and real people writing real reviews.

^This is inaccurate. See above. The masseur is the one who submits the client review content to MF. If the masseur doesn’t like a review a client sends to them by email, they can simply choose to not post it. Are you sure you’re not confusing MasseurFINDER with RENTmasseur? I could see that happening on RentMasseur, but it’s simply untrue of MasseurFinder. I haven’t had to ask RentMasseur to remove a review, so I don’t know the process for that. It would have to be something truly malicious and outrageous for me to need to do that. Someone saying they didn’t like my massage or style or personality or something like that is not enough to merit taking a review down. Clients should hear all the opinions and decide for themselves. Reviews keep us accountable and encourage us to do better, get better, and stay honest.

This is how it was a few years ago, pre-COVID. I went through it with two masseurs on that site: posting a review and it went live and then an hour later was gone. So while it sounds like things might have changed now, it did use to be like this. But this was also the time before MF tried to go legit, like when they started forbidding masseurs to post shirtless photos.   Sounds like it’s even worse now tho.

Has anyone had success in contacting a "reviewer" on Rentmasseur?  I have been able to contact the people who have reviewed escorts online through Rentmen, because the website allows for the link to open up the profile (if it is still in existence) and then contact the reviewer.

I've tried to do this through Rentmasseur and it doesn't seem to work and it doesn't seem like clients can contact other clients.  Has anyone tried to do this?

Yes, you can contact another RM member via email.

Copy the reviewer's name and paste it on rentmasseur.com after a " / "

Using you as an example, it would be: rentmasseur.com/steve

That would take me to your page and I would click on email at the bottom to communicate with you.

I do it all the time.

Here’s a service online that offers to write fake RentMasseur reviews. I am shocked and concerned. Had no idea this was a thing until I stumbled upon it today.

Now that I think about it, it makes sense. Why wouldn’t someone monetize fake review writing services? Be careful what you trust online.

Word of mouth from known clients is more reliable than anonymous reviews. CoM is also a good place to verify information about masseurs and providers you’re interested in hiring.

By the way, I was Google searching if it’s possible to link RentMasseur profiles to one another, in my case for 4-hand massage services. I searched “rentmasseur how to link profiles”. Haven’t found that answer yet (I suspect it’s a ‘no’). This review writing service site happened to pop up seven hits down and I clicked it to read later. Rest assured, I would never, ever hire a service like this to manufacture reviews for me.

Sad and disappointing, but not surprising.

I do often reach out to a RM reviewer if I'm interested in a masseur, if there's no reply or the email isn't even read then I have my answer and move on.
