For a long time, I have gifted quite a number of preppy escorts with leather —- jackets, chaps, etc. and all of them were more than pleased with the look, feel, and scent of a fine piece of goods. My collection of gear has been reduced somewhat, but I still maintain a decent wardrobe of jackets. I agree, but it really helps if they have the right attitude/acting skills. I guess I just look for the skills more than the costume. I also like to be surprised.
