I'm not quite old enough to remember this, but I saw a photo of the first Ronald McDonald, Willard Scott, and think that if I saw this as I child, it might frighten me. Any of you have any memories of this?

I'm also too young for that version, but I can see why clowns got the scary rep they did......Willard Scott pictured as the McDonald's clown is, indeed, frightening......it might be the black eye color, mean-looking eyebrow shape, the gap-toothed evil-appearing grin, or the disheveled hair.....

I was never scared of clowns, but I can see this Willard Scott scarring kids' psyches for life......

My parents didn’t allow us to have fast food, so I can probably count on my hands the number of times I’ve been to McDonald’s.

Smart parents.

My kids also have never eaten fast food or drunk sugary sodas.

Now they are teenagers that might change, as their friends may not be as fast-food-phobic.

I have a clown phobia, so, yes, that's frightening. THe happy Ronald I remember never tracked as a clown and didn't set me off. The word for it is Coulrophobia
