I can certainly see why new escorts would turn to men4rentnow because of the economics and I do think they have imporved the site. But I have two problems with the site is why not at least offer a small dialogue box to write something with the email. Second I do not understand the reasoning for maintaining an ad out there for someone who has not paid thus wasting time for the client.

All of the sites do that. It makes the site look more "full" and therefore obviously (to the casual observer) more popular.

 

People often complain about escorts not replying to emails. I've often wondered how much of that is sending email from one of the sites who just isn't passing it along because the bill hasn't been paid. At least M4RN is now removing the email links and phone # on expired ads.

3K on rentboy??? Man that is a bit much. I spend $334 a year. With getting only about 2-3 clients a month from it, the 334 is not to much.

My biggest problem with some of these sites is when you input a locale they come back with guys who only are willing to travel there!Useless info in my book and it really clogs up the works.

Rentboy does not do that and that is why I visit them most often-as well as here of course!

IMHO..Anyone who is making an "alleged" $250-300 an hour, should not consider $80 A MONTH.. a big hunk of change! Anyone knowing anything about Economics, knows it definitely takes money to make money! To make Money in a city like NY, It will take money in Advertising! It used to be that I didnt have to really pay for advertising when I started 4 years ago. Times have changed, especially if your looking to get good business. I put out around 250 a month in advertising between men4rent, rentboy and now apparently american male has chimed in. I know some guys who pay a hell of a lot more for print ads and such, as well as guys who get away with paying nothing. You do reap what you sow as they say and the advertising costs have more than paid for themselves. Just my opinion.

In my experience Rentboy is very popular all over the US, especially the large cities I visit.

The cost of the ad varies upon the city (NYC, LA, Paris being the most expensive) and the placement (classic, gold and platinum which guarantees the ad to be placed on the first 3 pages). Interestingly, Rentboy is very popular in Europe and particularly Paris.

 

My business comes primarily from the HooBoy's site to which I'm very thankful (equally the Reviews and the Message Board), then comes Rentboy and Men4RentNow (in the US). In Europe I advertise on different sites (the main one being Gaydar, escort and masseur section).

I used to hate all the non-local results on M4RN, but they've now added a checkbox to the search feature: 'search home city only' which fixes that. About time! Also you can search by recent listings, so you weed out the ads that are just filler which never got removed.

 

That does bring up a question, how often do clients update their ads on sites like M4RN and Rentboy?

 

Two more comments on Rentboy:

I really like their 'available now' search feature, if other clients use it too I'd think it would be a great way around having to pay to be in the first couple pages of a general search. Do you have to pay extra to use it?

 

Rentboy seems fairly hustler-filled. I won't bother with guys who don't list rates or leave 'prefer not to say' (which I read as 'prefer not to do') for 'sex preference'. Even then it seems pretty easy to end up with a guy who can't even pretend he's there for anything but the money, as quickly as possible. Lots of stolen photos too, even within the same city you may see the exact same photo under 3 different names.
