A movie comes out that romanticises the escort as a true love object, this time with gay friendly Debra Messing and quirky yummy Dermot Mulroney, is there a foreseeable effect on business?

Increase? More clients with unrealistic expectations?

When I saw the preview for this movie, I was in a theatre with two other escorts. When it was over, we both looked at each other in unison and said "Oh boy."

I doubt it will have any impact on business. However, Dermott Mulroney is getting paid $6,000 for the weekend, so let's hope :-) The movie also seems to be aimed at a female/date-movie demographic. I'd be surprised if it has a mass appeal to gay men.

Skip it and go see "A Very Long Engagement" instead.

I would say that both of these movies should have a very long term beneficial effect for the business. If escorts are going to be seen as honest professionals, if escorting is ever going to be legalized, then we are all ready in a fight for hearts and minds. Pretty Woman does make it clear that she is a professional who doesn't fall in love with every client, but falls in love with one specific one much as would a professional in any other field. Sight unseen, I'm guessing / hoping that W.D. is the same way, in which case those who see it and like / love the characters in it, will be more on our side. Rather like gay rights being advanced by people that "you" know coming out of the closet.

And if anyone accuses us of having an ajenda? Let 'em! It would be ridiculous of us not to have a plan, as individuals, though we don't have one we have voted on as a group. It should be even more ridiculous for anyone to be able to score points by accusing us of having one.

Well, as someone who lives right off of Hollywood Blvd and a stone throw away from where Richard picked up Julia, I can tell you I haven't see a street walker down the boulevard, ever. Apparently, in the last three years Hollywood Blvd has really cleaned up.

God, I remember the good ol' days when you could get your hooker *and* your crack just by walking out the door. Now I gotta go over two whole streets and make seperate stops. Sheesh.

I seriously doubt that a "Movie" will make Guys decide to spend $200-$250 an hour on an Escort..OF course unless it was on this "Particular" Movie Hunk..I think alot of guys will buy the DVD though, just for his Tightey Whitey Scene alone.. This will probably be another case of "TV" Star not doing well on the Big Screen. :+ :+ :+

I saw it today - on a scale of 1 - 10, it's a 4 at best. A real "Chick Flic"

HOWEVER There is a very long, lingering close up of Mulroney's (or his body double's) ass that got my attention.

Memories Are Made Of This

You are in what we "long termers" consider the good part of Hollywood now.

If you move to Lexington, you can find both all the tranny and female hookers you need, and all the crack and meth you could possible smoke within a two block radius. If you are really Lucky, you can even find a white boy between the ages of 15 and 19 who got kicked out of Jeffrey Goodman for excessive recidivism of his rehab program....

Hey, you never know, it could be a portrayal that tips the scale for anyone on the fence about hiring or with an unfavorable view of escorts and those that hire.

The movie TRICK, unrealistic though it may have been, inspired me to give go go boys a shot....and we've been getting along famously ever since. :-)
