I was playing Words With Friends and played the word BROMANCE with no problem.  That was months ago.  In playing today. I was looking for a good word and tried WOMANCE which it was not an acceptable word.  I figured that a bromance that women had would be a womance though I had never heard the word.  So has anyone ever seen this word used?   There is a wikipedia heading for it but it is very brief and there is an apparel company by that name.   So anyone use this term?

I've never heard "womance" used.  The portmanteau isn't as natural sounding and it's not even etymologically parallel to "bromance".  There's just not a strong feminine equivalent to "bro" in common usage. "Sis" just doesn't get used the same way and "wo-" feels forced.

But woman is right there in the word.  Woman ce.   It may be that it is not needed on a social level but the portmanteau is spot on.
