I didn’t even have a notion of any “racist dog whistle” - I figured the skin reference meant sex, perhaps bareback, with “getting dark” meaning kinky, wild, no limits. 🤷🏼‍♂️

I'm not sure if it's applicable, but his location being Vancouver Island, British Columbia, I gave the Urban Dictionary a shot and found the definition that "skin" is British slang for rolling papers, as in rolling a joint.
