Well to be honest the majority of my 'local' business is from out of town visitors.

Part of it also is the exchange rate. If an escort from the US can charge 200 US in LA, in order to get the same fee he'd have to charge 300CAD in Vancouver... Now from my experience, getting 200CAD in Vancouver is on the higher end of the market, so likely an American escort would not find it 'profitable' to visit Vancouver, or most Canadian cities, for that matter.

That all being said, there is a pretty decent crop of guys working locally. Check the reviews, there are about 5 Vancouver guys who've consistantly recieved rave reviews... and several others that have a couple of great reviews, so it's not like the pickings are that slim.

I think Matt is right about the exchange rate driving this. I have engaged two American escorts and one British escort in Canada. All discounted their regular rates to be more competitive in the local market. There are some who travel north successfully w/o discounting but I think they are few and high profile porn guys. The other side of the coin is often true too -- most (not all) Canadians raise their rates (by the exchange rate) when coming to the US. Makes sense with the higher cost of travel/hotels and the local market structure. I love the Canadian dollar, the Canadian boys, the Canadian strip clubs... the list just goes on and on.

I have seen few travelling escorts advertise in Canada. Those few I have met there discounted rates. I suspect most escorts don't desire working travel at dsicounted rates so they don't travel. It's not about competition - variety is the spice of life!

 

And to address the other comments about the poor exchange rate...

it's true that it sucks and that a US escort might have to adjust his prices (but it probably would not hurt a UK escort all that much) but look at it this way. An escort in his home town in the US might only get 1 or 2 bookings a day. But if he was well reviewed he would probably be a hot commodity in Vancouver and could end up with many more appointments than he would get at home. So...... he might have to work a little more, but the financial rewards at the end of the week might be well worth it - even considering the lousy exchange rate. And his living expenses while working here would benefit from this same exchange rate.

 

As a "working boy" and an independent contractor, it's all about the bottom line, isn't it?

Well, sort of. The Dufferin Hotel has "go-go boys", but the last time I saw them they were a bit dodgey. Thin, sickly things. Perhaps we can persuade Matt to elevate the entertainment there!

 

I haven't been to the other bars in ages, but I think the Odyssey has some sort of nudity at various times during the week.

The main reason the Dufferin only gets sickly thin crack-heads to dance there, is because they pay them about 10 bucks and a pitcher of beer.

As far as persuading me to 'elevate' the entertainment there, I don't dance, never have. But I can do a great job of elevating certain parts of you; )
