I met an escort a while back (fairly new to the business) who said that in three months in the business (and after quickly getting a couple of good reviews on this site), he was getting 20 or 30 emails a day. I should have asked him at the time, but now I am asking guys who are established escorts - How much email do you get from guys who see you on websites or your ads and how much of it is real -- a person who might actually want to meet you and is emailing to try to set something up. Also, what are the most common types of "junk" emails escorts get from guys who are never actually going to see them?

I, for one, am looking forward to the answer here. As a client, I never (well, hardly ever ;-) ) send e-mails to an escort unless I am very serious about following up in the near future. But then, unless an escort has already spent some time 'marketing' himself through a web site, ads and reviews, I'm not likely to bother contacting him at all...

I'd say less than 1/2 the e-mails I receive inquiring about my services result in an actual appointment. Lots of guys just looking for more pics. Phone calls have always generated more business for me.

Well, you still didn't answer the question as to the number? 1/2 result in appointments? If as in the inquiry that 20 to 30 were received in a day, wouldn't that mean at least 7 resulting in appointments? Just curious, as I'm trying to follow the math here.

I've never received that many e-mails in a day. If I advertised my e-mail address on several escort sites and in a few print publications, I'm sure I'd have more inquiries, but I'm busy as I want to be right now working 30 or so hours a week at my gym and seeing a few clients a week.

Most of my business is repeat clientele and many are guys I've been seeing for years. I get most of my new clients from this site and many of them e-mail me first and call later.

I've received 6 e-mails re: services so far this month resulting in 2 appts. I guess it's different for new escorts or those escorts who live in cities that have more "tourist clientele". I don't get alot of that here in Columbus. Mostly guys who live in the area or are here on business.

Real Life - Only Better Written

Approximately one third of my contacts turn into hires, albeit eventually. Unlike most escorts, I keep in touch with gentlemen long after other escorts have told me they would cut them off. Some of these [u[never[/u] turn into hires.

I think my numbers are high in that I follow up and I do so without pushing myself or soliciting business. For example, I often say hello to prospects in cities when there is no chance that I will be seeing them anytime soon; clearly my contact of them is merely a desire to maintain the connection, not merely solicit business.

A good third simply want pictures, simply want on line jerk-off material, want a free sample, or something along those line.

One third are repeats.

While specific numbers may be interesting, I prefer not to discuss them. I will state this is what I do full time.

RE: Real Life - Only Better Written

Hey there,

I probably receive between 15-25 emails a day. If I get two that turn into clients, that's a big day. Most are just telling me if I "get their way they'd like to meet me." The problem always comes down to who is brave enough to pick up the phone & actually make a set appointment. I think many guys are just scared shitless(but hey, its a bold step for married dudes)

Depends

Actual amount of emails depend on many factors, for instance when an escort gets a review here the number goes up for that week and 1/2, at least. otherwise even when you advertise it can vary. Sometimes I get 5 in a day other times maybe 1 every week or even a month.

As the others say most seem to be picture collectors. Also, some are people who just ask for info and seem interested but for whatever reason never follow through.

I always prefer the emails to phone calls because for me they seem to follow through more. Most of the phones calls are clients who want you "right now" and that doesn't often work out.

I would say bout 20-30% maybe actually turn into a client. Hope this helps :)

RE: Depends

I don't want to discount the idea that some folks who ask for pics are just looking for free material to entertain themselves. However, in my case, I ask for pics when either the escort's posted pics are not clear, or if there no pics posted or posted with no face shots. Sometimes it happens that when you see the pics, you really are not interested in hiring that escort.

Similarly, I find that escorts who rely on emails rather than phone calls often don't post as much information as is necessary to make a decision. As a result, it should not be surprising that once the details are disclosed in a reply mail, the number of actual business contacts is lower.

I like to think that the photograph on my reviews are clear and that it is recent (it was taken by a client, with my digital camera, during my last trip to Las Vegas so it is very recent; likewise, the photographs on my Gaydar site are also recent and I like to think good quality and clear. Some do not have face shots, but the main shot of my Gaydar site is a full body showing my face quite clearly.

The majority of requests I receive for pictures or web site links are from AOL members, not from e-mails I receive based on reviews on this site. If there are requests for pictures from other websites advertising escorts, I respond with my Gaydar link, as those pictures are rarely, if ever, on any other site.

I do believe clients are entitled to see a variety of recent pictures, for those for whom physical appearance and physical chemistry is paramount, what I referred to primarily was client who simply wanted to see pictures after a sufficient amount were certainly provide and/or who wanted to engage in on line or telephone chat "what do you like to do?" or "I want you to do this to me and then this and then afterwards can we do that."

It is important to find out what a client wants and needs, but after a while you get the sense when someone is merely engaging in cyber or phone sex, particularly the guy who claims to be a 27 year old virgin who has never had sex, or who has a rape fantasy, or something along those line.

I tend to err on the side of caution in speaking with everyone, but at some point I simply say, I have to go and rarely, if ever, hear from these gentlemen again, not even to request more cyber sex or more photographs. Thus, I do not think they were ever looking to hire me, or anyone else for that matter.

RE: Depends

Just to clarify when I say picture collectors I don't mean someone just asking for an additional face pic or body pic, additional pics, etc. I actually mean people who just want ur picture and never intend to make an appointment. You'd be surprised how many there really are out there. You can usually tell who is serious and who isn't but not always.

I've also had my of people who have all the info, pic and genuinely seem to want to meet and we exchange a few email and phone, etc and then nothing. I never hear from them again. Once in awhile I do hear from one maybe a few months down the road and then the same thing happens.

:(

I guess just part of the territory. :)

I have to say, this is one of the more interesting threads I've read in a while. 20 e-mail a day seems somewhat unbelievable, but then again, I guess it depends on how much you expose yourself (snicker). I'd say I get about 20 e-mails a week, out of which maybe 7 materialize into actual dates. I get a lot of mail from people in other parts of the country who want me to call them "when I'm in town", so those are usually no-gos since I just don't happen to be in Oregon, Miami, or Houston just like that. Most of my clients are regulars, though, so if you're wondering how many new clients I get from those 20 e-mails, it's definitely countable on one hand.

I have a feeling that many times, writing to an escort or getting his website / pictures is about as far as most people are willing / comfortable to go. I usually take a lot of time for my e-mail replies to every guy who writes which seems to have convinced some of them to actually go through with their fantasy (more power to them) after they see that I'm a real person and not just some dumb hooker. In the years I've been escorting, I've only had two instances of a guy e-mailing me about what he'd like to do with me (in all its lurid detail) just to then never be seen or heard of again. But if it helped him get off, sure why not...

Just to clarify what I wrote in the original post -- the escort I knew who got 20-30 emails a day was fairly new and had just gotten his two reviews here (one of which included a very hot pic). One of the people who replied here said his email volume went up when he got a review here -- would be curious how much an uptick a new review here counts in terms of email. I know that one of the things I like to look at is the "newest reviews" section here to see if there are some new escorts in my area.

As I previously stated, a review here definitely helps. I would say that after a review my email inquires/phone calls can go up 50-70%. That is just inquires...the amount that actually turns into an appointment can differ. But this site is one of the best forms of "free advertisement".

Of course, most clients don't like to give reviews so it takes a lot of clients before an escort even gets 1 review.

Most clients don't even know about this site actually, but I make a point of telling them, mostly the inexperienced clients, so that when they hire an escort in the future (it doesn't have to be me), they have a good reference site to pick a reliable escort from...and not "pick one out of the blue," so to speak and possibly have to deal with problems. :)

  • 2 months later...

Over the past 3-4 months, i've gotten about 50-60 legit emails a day... Closer to 150-70 when it's 'Coverboy' status or with a new review gone up.

Out of that number, about 80% are ones that turn into actual appointments in the future and the others are just emailing to say hello, how's life, etc. I am finding myself spending more & more time at the machine due to this pickup in email... almost 2-3 hours a day honestly. Not a bad thing, but how quickly your eyes get tired from staring at a monitor all day ;)

Anyone got a good reference for an assistant? lol.

Warmest Always,

Benjamin, 80% of your lowest number of daily emails (50) comes to 40 clients a day. That's about 1,240 clients a month...and 14,600 a year. And that's not even taking into account those times when you get 150 emails a day, 120 of which turn into real jobs. It's mind boggling. How have you, for the past 3-4 months, been handling 40-120 clients a day? :o

With that many clients, are you sure your eyes are all that's tired? :p

That certainly is a remarkable number of clients -- if you assume that each of those emails comes from a different client. If the average number of emails he exchanges with each person who becomes an actual client is, say, five, then we would only be talking about eight or nine clients a day. Someone his age should be able to handle that, don't you think? You can probably still remember when you were young enough to display that sort of energy can't you?

I've been operating on the assumption that Rick is at least a little younger than you, but I admit I have very little evidence to support that.

What are "inquires"? The opposite of out queers?

Did everyone miss the keywords "in the future"? That doesn't mean immediately, today. I don't think Benjamin is exaggerating either, because the last time I saw him, when he checked his email that night he had 160 email messages. Whew, it would wear me out just to quickly scan every one, much less reply to the legitimate ones that I wanted to follow up on.

I guess he could use an assistant, as long as he follows up with one of his nice personal emails after the screening process is done. :)

I didn't miss that. He said they turn into "actual appointments in the future". For them to be "actual appointments", he would have had to meet them. So...again, I'm in awe. 80% of 50 emails a day comes out to 40 appointments a day for the last 3-4 months . At any age, that's quite a feat...and that's whether it's 8 or 9 or 40 a day. I'm not saying this to knock Benjamin; I'm truly impressed. ;)
