I have hired escorts that charge different prices.. I like incalls so I usually have the time to get correct change... But manytimes I don't.. ie.. 175.. Hit the ATM get 180..(not that the $5 is going to make him rich just the principle) What are you going to do ask for the 5 bucks.. How tacky! and tastless!

5 Bucks Change!! Don't worry come to Boston we'll take care of you John..

My belief is that the client should have the exact amount ready and shouldn't be asking for change...after all an escort isn't a bank and most likely will not be carrying change with him.

My few times with an escort...I always got the payment ready in advance and made sure I had the payment all ready.

In my book...I feel it is only common courtesy...after all it seems a bit rude to give an escort his payment and then ask..."Do you have change?"

Or maybe that is just me! :-)

Thanks guys,

First time it ever happened to me. I thought about asking the girls at the Tastee Kreme where to get one of those old school metal drive-in hip changers to wear on appointments. You never know when someone might have a Sonic fantasy--Yeah boy! You know you want my Ocean Water! or just need CHANGE of all things. My partner got a mini-bullhorn last year for Christmas from Restoration Hardware. This year he bought new batteries & juiced it back up so he keeps yelling at me for his change or wanting his "Fi' Dolla". It's been a running joke since last night. He even rolled over this morning & grabbed his horn to wake me up for his change. I almost punched his ass.

By the way, I had a killer time in Boston last time so my trip up next weekend should be just as sweet<G> Really looking forward to it...San Francisco too. The only time I've been to Ca. was Death Valley with my parents as a small child...sheer terror...not the Valley...my folks!<G>

John, when I see you next week I'll give you that "Fi Dolla", just leave the bullhorn in the suitcase, HeHe! But on a serious note, a client should always have the correct change and if he doesn't have the correct change, he should overpay. Let's just say its a tip. See you next week John, can't wait!

Instead of you being short $5, you should have suggested that he give you the extra money and deduct it from your fee the next time he hired you.

You mention that the session lasted well over an hour because he had to answer his cell phone numerous times during your appointment. I don't see why you have to extend your time because he wants to talk on the phone while you are there. (If I misread what you wrote and you answered your phone several times during an hour-long appointment, then no wonder he wanted to underpay you!)

John your post really took me by surprise. I never would have thought that any client would expect an escort to carry enough money to make change. That is so absurd and just rude.

I always feel it's my responsibility to have the proper amount of money to pay the escort. I even have an alternative amount in case I want to tip. In the most common case I give the escort an extra 5 - 10. anyway. Basically, this covers there car expense (even though they don't ask for it).

Personally, I would let this semi regular client know how you feel. He owes you an apology.

Happy 2003 :)

I agree with your response wholeheartedly and I have the same basic policy as yourself. Talk about a tacky client, as if a whole $5 is going break the bank, especially since STJ saw him on a last minute notice!

On the flip side, what about those escorts who watch every minute of the clock, and charge for an additional 1/2 or 1 hour if the session goes beyond 60 minutes? Aren't they just as tacky? :7

I've never heard anything as funny as that, this guy is a semi regular client but still tries to stiff you a regular fee.Hmmm maybe he should become an ex-client if he treats you like that, now i know why i gave upon 1 hr calls about 6months after starting in this business.

Maybe he thought because it was New Years Eve he would find you in a good mood and so get his rocks off more cheaper than normal. And if he is stupid enough to ask for change afterwards then i think a better class of client maybe a New Years Resolution for 2003.:)

When I first started I used to carry change, but eventually after never being asked to make change (thank god), I stopped worrying about it. It just wasn't the kind of converstation I wanted to be having with a client, and whether $5 or $10 slipped away or we went 10 or 20 minutes over, so be it. A lot of clients tip anyway, so it all evens out. So far, I've never been stiffed.

As for you $5 friend, here's the math:

last minute call + cell phone interruptions (!!!) + stiffed fee = cancelled client

This is someone who doesn't value your time, and doesn't appreciate you. At the very least, don't jump though any more hoops for someone like this.

Payment can be awkward for some guys (especially if they haven't done much of this before), so sometimes it's worth cutting a little slack. But you've seen this guy before, so I don't think that's the case here at all. In agreement with everyone else here, he's just TACKY!

At least you've got a funny "war story" out of it.

:D

perhaps, as some said, they may consider it tacky to ask for change. i see nothing wrong with it, but it seems to me once you tell him you don't have change, the reasonable thing for him to do would be overpay you $5, rather than short you the larger sum (amount you did not state). seeing as you stated he had left on the table less than the amount he always paid you before (that is the tacky part) you should have stood your ground and insisted you got your usual fee, even if he had to give an extra 5, seeing as he is the one didn't have the right change. while insisting this, you should have known in the back of your mind it would be the last time you would ever want to see this client anyway.

From this client's perspective, I NEVER expect an escort to carry change and never ask for change--I make it a point to have the correct amount and can't count the number of dashes to the hotel lobby or ATM I've made at the last minute when I realized I might be short :p If it means shorting myself or the escort, I always take it in the shorts :+ but then it was my job to be prepared.

You guys travel to all sorts of neighborhoods to meet with clients and you'd be foolish to carry extra money.

The exchange of money seems to always be the most akward part of the arrangement under the best of circumstances, and for the client not to be prepared to pay the correct amount is, IMHO very poor judgment at the very best for him, and more than likely shows his true character as someone who is out to get ya in more ways than one.

For what ever reason it was that he waited until the last minute to call you, YOU did him a BIG FAVOR and got shit on in return--again, it's not the amount (although it all counts) but the priciple and I'd sure xxxx this guy off the acceptable list--maybe email him a link to this post }( so he knows why, although I'm sure he is well aware of what he did.

We've never met, but you've always seemed like a classy (and cute) guy ;) , so it would certainly be HIS loss if you didn't see him again--Happy New Year :+

John:

You were stiffed (no pun intended). If I don't have correct change for the person I use, then I always consider it an extra tip. My guess would be that he felt like you would give him a discount on New Year's Eve. I would tell him, if he has the guts to try to hire you again, that you are going to go up to your new rates for him because of the "stunt" he tried to pull with you. If he doesn't like it, then you have nothing to lose. It seems you have your appointment calendar full anyway.

As for your partner and his bullhorn, I would suggest you try to cram it #*&@, and see if he likes it or not . . . HAHAHAHA.

RE: Sue Me lol

A friend of mine used to work for a guy worth about $800 million dollars. Once he found himself having to take a cab in NY with this guy. When they got to their destination this millionaire paid the fare and asked the cab driver for 15 cents change. Money is a funny thing.

Howdy Men,

Yesterday it's almost rush hour in a raining cats-n-dogs Nashville when a fairly frequent(not a regular) client pops on wanting an hour at his place ASAP. My shower was already warming up so I said what the hell, jumped in & out and headed off to meet him twenty minutes away. Did my thing which lasted well over an hour because he had to stop and answer his cell phone several times. On my way out, I picked up my fee off the counter & realized before reaching the door that he had stiffed me more than a few bucks. I explained that even though he was on my old Nashville rate that this amount had NEVER been my hourly fee. He played dumb & then cool by saying he always kept extra cash in his pocket for emergencies. He asked if I had change. Normally, I carry cash but like a dummy I ran out of the house with no wallet(my partner had phoned me while driving over to tell me so lol) I had a buck and some coins in my jeans.

SO...because I didn't have $5 change...I had to take less than my usual on this New Years Eve appointment.

Do any of the escorts here consciously carry money in their pockets under the assumption that they may have to make change for a client? Mine is usually for Mtn. Dew, gum, an after snack, if the car breaks down or some type of emergency. I normally don't have to make change.

Thanks & Happy New Year!

John
