My partner "Chris" and I enjoy going to see comedians (and live pretty close to the Laugh Factory and Comedy Store), but neither of us especially likes to be picked on, so we'd always sit in the 2nd row. The last time we went, one comedian just went through almost the whole room, in particular all of the 1st and 2nd row. He said he assumed we were father and son, but then had a blast when he labeled us as "sugar daddy" and "sugar baby" when we called ourselves "partners." Well, "Chris" was mortified and wants to be no closer than the 3rd row in the future. Well, it never occurred to me to go all Will Smith on the comedian--I just laughed it off--but "Chris" was not amused. So I guess from now on, we'll sit further in the back. How do you feel when a comedian picks at you? Can you laugh it? Or do you feel humiliated? I don't suppose any of you considered bitch-slapping the comedian?

I’ve never been to a comedy club since I find 80% of comedians to be unfunny. I have a weird sense of humor and will laugh uproariously at some things. I may be the only American who never watched an episode of Seinfeld. Now, Curb Your Enthusiasm, for example, I find hilarious.

I’m more afraid of being called out by drag queens!

I took a younger escort to The Comedy Store a couple months ago at his request during a “weekend” visit, as we were trying to find something to do during the “tweener” evening. He saw a particular comedian listed that he loved, so I actually bought the front row table setting there.  I initially thought, “Oh, this could be bad”, but it was actually ok, and we laughed quite a bit.

That’s why there is a 2 drink minimum in those clubs.  Make sure they are strong so your too drunk to get to the stage.  There was this one show I used to watch years ago…I think it was on A&E improve or something like that….and there was this one guy who would work the room and he was merciless.  Some of the patrons were amused and others wanted to jump up on stage and do a backhand to the guy.  I bet they had security just for such occasions.  Money and fame allow a lot to happen.  It’s funny on old shows like Dynasty, someone would slap the hell out of Alexis and no one bothered to move.  Seems like reality is imitating shows.joan collins march GIF
