Just what this show needs another judge! But I'm guessing this Show will go as long as it doesn't run out of Bubble Gummer's just like the Jonas Bros! ;-)

Personally the sooner "Howdy Doody" Seacrest fades into obscurity the better! Some guys don't look good either exposed or Overexposed..;-)

Ok, I'll admit it...I love American Idol. I think Kara is an awesome addition to the show as well. She doesn't give a fuck what any of the other judges think and she actually knows what she's talking about. She's willing to stand up and challenge Simon which I think was needed.

Oh yes and I'm placing my bet right now...Top 2...Adam Lambert and Allison Iraheta. They are both ROCK STARS!

I didn't care for Kara at first but I find I'm warming up to her.

What REALLY pisses me off is Queen Simon. His pithy comments have helped retain viewers for many seasons but this year he is cruel to the point of being downright rude.

And considering the mega millions he puts into his pockets from the show and spin offs, he should have the smarts not to look so fucking bored all the time. If the whole proceedings do bore him that much he should quit - at the very least don't sit there and look bored when the singers are performing and the other judges are speaking.

JD, Without seeing all the top 12 picks, that's a very early bet. I agree both are currently the top choices. Adam, who looks like a young Elvis, has some vocal range and Allison just mesmerizes you with her singing.

What did you think of Nick Mitchell as "Norman Gentle"? I thought his "act" was hilarious... Someone should have told him that this was American Idol not America's Got Talent...

The produces of American Idol have made several noticeable changes this season, the biggest one being the addition of a 4th judge.

Kara Dio Guardi, singer, songwriter, record producer, etc... can now add to her resume, AI Judge.

Are AI fans warming up to her? Not from what I'm reading. Paula has spoken saying 3 is enough... Simon doesn't seem too pleased with her ranting and Randy might say she's "pitchy"... Time will tell if the decision of the produces was right or wrong but I personally doubt if she'll last the entire season.

Any AI fans amongst us? What do you think?

I know it's a bit early to be predicting already, but the two of them just blew me away. Adam Lamberts vocal talent is out of this world! I don't want to sound blasphemous or anything, but he vaguely reminds me of Freddie Mercury.

I LOVED "Norman Gentle"! I was so happy he made it as far as he did. He totally was making fun of the entire process of the show while continually making it on to the next round. Brilliant! I think he will have a great career as a comedian!

Actually good news for you Zipperzone, rumors have been flying around that once Simon Cowell's contract expires in 2010, he has hinted that his intentions are to part company with the show and move on to other future projects in addition to focus a little bit more on his other hit show, X-Factor. The moment Simon decides to move on from American Idol, once that break has been established, I think viewers and the fans of the show will realise just how important his honesty and candor in explaining the difficulties of getting into the music business really are. From then on, I think the demise of American Idol will become apparent and maybe not so instantly in viewership, but certainly in quality of judging which will eventually reflect in ratings. It will be a lot harder to replace Simon Cowell as a judge in comparison to the other three and only time will tell.

I'll admit I've only seen a handful of shows but as a replacement for Simon I think Clive Davis would be an excellent choice. He's been in the biz forever and has developed a lot of talent through the years. Now if someone who is as respected as Clive were to jump on board I think that I might maybe watch a couple more showings, maybe.

Hugs,

Greg

I basically agree with you but still think he should show the viewers, without whom the show would not exist, the courtesy of not looking bored all the time.

When it comes to singing, he might not be in the same league as Adam and Allison, but Kris Allen did make it to the Top 12 and could be the dark horse in this competition.

Kris,23, is from Conway, Arkansas. He's a student and is attracting a lot of attention on AI. Not only does he have a talent for singing but those boy-next-door good looks do help.

These "gaysexual" pictures of American Idol contestant, Adam Lambert, are hitting the net... Some say he makes Clay Aiken's look straight... Others feel it might have a negative impact on the voters. You decide...

Especially as he is single and fantasy material for the biggest block of voters - teenybopper bubblegummers.

Some say he makes Clay Aiken's look straight...

"Cooper, how does one look gay or straight?"

How Wikipedia defines it:

Straight-acting is a term used to describe a person who does not exhibit the appearance or mannerisms of the gay stereotype. Although the label is used by and reserved almost exclusively for gay and bisexual men, it may also be used to describe a lesbian with stereotypical feminine appearance and mannerisms. Because the term invokes negative stereotypes of gay people, its application is often controversial and may cause offense.

Recent internet pictures of Adam Lambert have caused some people to make that comment, however, you be the judge. What do you think? Do you find the term offensive or acceptable in this case?

I don't think Adam will be on the show much longer with the pics. Most AI votes are from 13 year old little girls, and lets face it, no little girl obsesses over a hot gay guy. They want someone they could have a chance with. I also think its funny that viewers are so amazed by his singing, he comes from Broadway, he has vocal training, I just think he looks so fake. You can tell he is so animated with his cheesy winks, and half smiles. He is just not my cup of tea I guess. I do LOVE Kris Allen, I think people will eat him up. Who knows though, it would be great to have an openly gay man win American idol, but I think were about 5 years from that still. I am mad that they kicked off the sexy girl who did Betty Davis eyes. I thought she was so sexy, and had tons of confidence.

Clive wold be an excellent choice and has in fact has been part of the panel on occasion in the past. Thing is

1. I doubt he would do it. The time commitment is significant.

2. I do not think he is commercially critical. He would never call a contestant ridiculous, a performance horrible or degarde a contestant in a public forum. It is how Simon states his critique which brings the audience in.

3. I do think that is why they brought Kara in because she is a credible person in the industry, not that much different in background than Randy.

4. The replacement for Simon has to first be credible and second have great wit

Well a couple of thoughts with all 36 performed.

Lets not forget Lil Round, best vocal performance of the top 36 was saved for last, great story mom of 3 and wife, tornando blew house away.

Scott is a great story. How many of us thought when he got out the chair and started walking, Oh my God dont go off the stage, but he did stop.

I liked Von and Jorge a lot and Jorge's emotional breakdown at the end had everyone tugging on heartstrings.

Before we pick a favorite some of the best singers would be better when with their instruments, Scott, Kris Allen and few others, like Matt who I think will get a second chance in the wild card, if he can make it from there he is back in the running because he is amazing on the keyboard, like Scott.

Finally, if you change something, either instuments are part of the contest or not. Auditions, no - Hollywood week 50% - top 36 no - Top 12, 100%. Not consistent and I think some of the top 36 were hurt not having their instument with them. In the business you will have your instrument, so if that is you than why not. The judges always say "What kind of record would you make?" Well my guess is with an instrument they play so let them play it.

Following last night's performances, the odds makers have made their picks. If correct, tonight, the following 3 might have a chance of making it into the "TOP 12".
