I am going to assume that the person who was taking pictures was using flash? And this is what got her attention? Although not Broadway I did stage stuff ;) and I found it sometimes hard to not let the flash of a camera distract me or even if it caught my eye just right leave that glare that can sometimes happen in my vision. I think that she had every right to call this person out. Go Patti!

Hugs,

Greg

We had the pleasure of having her onboard the Atlantis Caribbean cruise as a special guest star a couple of weeks ago. I liked her performance on stage the Arcadia theater after seeing her on Broadway in "Sweeney Todd" and "Gypsy". I did notice that the public was taking photos with flash during the whole performance and that didn't set her on fire ... I guess she was in the right mood :-)

Ethel Merman was known to get upset with audiences.

But, it's impossible to imagine Merman stopping "Gypsy" cold at that point ("Rose's Turn") in the show. The actress playing Mama Rose loses all the dramatic tension that has been building to that final song. Merman played Mama Rose three times or more longer than LuPone.

Who cares about the so-called golden age of Broadway Not me. But, this an example of why people feel they have a right to trash today's Broadway stars. Sadly, I agree in this case.
