I remember the Venture Inn, but the place I am thinking of was not on Camac but on Chancellor St, and I think it was Maxine's, where Mary the Hat played the piano.

Dallas in the 70's had something similar near Cedar Springs and McKinney.  Can't recall the name, but I seem to remember it being upstairs in and older stand alone house like building.
