This was part of a list of 25 Significant Gay Events in Rock and Roll on AOL. AOL used it as a teaser to get people to click on the site---Rocker admits to being gay in bio---paraphrases the blind headline

Funny. Boy George was an out gay club kid and performer (primarily at Blitz). Only when Culture Club began "blowing up big" in America did their record label stop him from talking about s-e-x. (And bear in mind he was in a torrid relationship with the drummer, Jon Moss.)

Boy George did get in a few jabs, however: When accepting the Best New Artist Grammy in 1984, he said to the audience (of millions) via satellite, "Thanks America, you've got style, you've got taste, and you know a good drag queen when you see one."

Fester (played by the hilarious Jackie Coogan) was Gomez Addams' brother on "The Addams Family."

Festus, I believe, was a coot on "Gunsmoke."

And Festivus is a holiday for the rest of us, according to Frank Costanza ("Seinfeld")!

Thanks for posting that link.

I had forgotten all about that song and the live version is even more beautiful than the one on the Colour by Numbers album.

You're welcome! Boy George has become something of a "punch line" these days, so it's easy to forget how big (no jokes, please) he once was!

Remember the famous Newsweek magazine cover with Boy George and Annie (Eurythmics) Lennox? Was America ready for "androgyny?"
