+ poolboy48220 Posted June 13, 2024 Posted June 13, 2024 (edited) Finished last night. I'm obsessed, can't wait for Season 4. Amazing twist at the end. I'm going to have to check out Mare of Easttown. Edited June 13, 2024 by poolboy48220 samhexum and thomas 1 1
+ Socalguy Posted June 14, 2024 Posted June 14, 2024 The season finale was SO fucking good! Can't wait for the next season. + Robster, kyleham and samhexum 2 1
+ poolboy48220 Posted June 14, 2024 Posted June 14, 2024 Hannah Einbinder has a standup comedy special on Max. It was good, not great. thomas 1

I even liked her in 24, during that awful season where the guy playing her wacko husband/Potus was so bad. On 9/20/2021 at 3:26 PM, jeezifonly said: I love my comedy dark. I don't need dark necessarily, but I do enjoy when the writing is smart and it cuts to the bone, as in shock value. It takes a certain something to make me laugh, and I assume that's how it goes for most people. The tickle bone is different for everyone, so it's amazing to me when a comedy actually works. So much depends on the mood of the audience at the time. On 9/20/2021 at 10:32 PM, BenjaminNicholas said: A show like AbFab could never be made today. People would shit a brick. I never saw AbFab, but I believe your point is spot on. A friend told me recently that comedy is dead. I was not happy with that news. IMO, you need risk to do great comedy, and no one wants to take risks anymore for fear of offending one person in the audience. All the over-sensitive narcissists want to react and behave like Will Smith. Really good comedy can no longer work in this environment. Then I tried recently to go back to it, and stopped watching again. I never quite fully fell in love. I did think Jean Smart and Hannah Einbinder have terrific chemistry. Some of the other characters annoyed me too much. I got bored with the formula. + BenjaminNicholas and Rod Hagen 2
MikeThomas Posted April 14 Posted April 14 Loved seasons 1 and 2… season 3 not as much. Just watched 75% of season 4 episode 1… unbearably dark and nasty. Don’t know if I’ll watch anymore.
+ poolboy48220 Posted April 14 Posted April 14 I agree with the "dark and nasty", after two seasons it's uncomfortable to see Deborah & Ava at each other's throats to this level. I will definitely keep watching though.

+ BenjaminNicholas Posted April 14 Author Posted April 14 I'm fine with flipping the script. I get bored with the same shtick season after season. That said, I'm sure they'll kiss and make up. But for now, them as enemies is a lot of fun to watch. AtticusBK, + EVdude and thomas 3
+ poolboy48220 Posted April 15 Posted April 15 I somehow missed that two episodes dropped last week. Fun treat for me getting a bonus episode before this week's.
MikeThomas Posted May 4 Posted May 4 So far they haven’t patched anything up. At this point Harry has a better shot at reconciling with his father than Ava and Deborah have. Ava has grown into an insufferable twat. Ava’s denial of a deeper relationship with Deborah during their LV days in front of her throuple partners really stung Deborah.
kyleham Posted May 12 Posted May 12 This season started off slow. Each episode it gets better and better. So far not the best season of the series. + EVdude 1
+ poolboy48220 Posted May 13 Posted May 13 Having Ava & Deborah at each other's throats so seriously hit me hard. I'm probably too invested in these characters 🤓 I was relieved to see that thawing in the last episode. thomas and + EVdude 2
+ poolboy48220 Posted May 17 Posted May 17 Two episodes this week! The interview with the mayor of Las Vegas was priceless. thomas, bichiguy, pleasureseeker and 1 other 1 3

kyleham Posted May 31 Posted May 31 A great way to end the season. Can't wait for next season. Give Jean Smart another Emmy> Can't wait to see her nest month on Broadway! bichiguy, Alpha714 and thomas 2 1
+ BenjaminNicholas Posted May 31 Author Posted May 31 Great show, great writing, great performances. Everyone needs to stay put. It's an ensemble cast and losing one would imbalance the quirk. jeezifonly and thomas 1 1
Ali Gator Posted June 3 Posted June 3 I liked season 4 except for the season finale. It was a let-down of an episode (for me). Season 5 is scheduled to be the 'final season' for the series.

bichiguy Posted June 7 Posted June 7 Actually what I liked about the last episode is that season 5 (hopefully?) is the original gang in Vegas rewriting Debs legacy and all the woah is me or resentment is done and they hit the ground running as a a comedic Thelma and Louise (maybe that's a bad metaphor lol)
jeezifonly Posted June 7 Posted June 7 I think of HACKS as a hybrid relationship story - Age-gap Comedy, Workplace Power-struggle, and Fraternal Romance. I applaud the way the creators and cast flesh out all three. I think it needs one more season. thomas, + EVdude and bichiguy 3
