George and Gracie, who knew?

George Burns and Gracie Allen garnered many fans and a lot of fame from their television show, however, in their earlier years they were quite the "hoofers", as is evident in this skit with Fred Astaire:

I've always enjoyed George & Gracie together. Somehow I've never seen this performance, so thanks for sharing, sync!

Gracie Allen had many amazing talents that the general public knew nothing about.  For example, she was a master magician.

Watch the beginning of this clip.  When she's tuning her ukelele, the strings are too long and curl up off the top.  Seconds later, when she's singing, the strings are perfectly trimmed.  I've watched this clip dozens of times and I can't figure out how she did it.  Houdini and David Copperfield would've been jealous.

The only other possible explanation would involve some cinematic trickery by the director, and I hope it wasn't that, because then they'll have to film the scene all over again!

P.S.  Every time I watch this scene I have the same thought... if Eleanor Powell mis-times even one step with that jump rope, she's going flying into that pool (or the ocean).
