India is reporting nearly 350,000 new cases of covid19 for today, Sunday.

And it is probably higher as I doubt everyone gets tested. :/

I recall the USA had over 300k cases one day in early January but that’s it (rest were in the 200k range.) India has roughly 4x the population of the USA.

The Onion seems to have more veracity than Business Insider.

Whoever wrote this headline didn't read the article. It's the opposite of the headline.

 

 

Paul Tambyah, a professor of medicine at the National University of Singapore, said the good news is that there is no concrete evidence that the triple mutation is deadlier or more transmissible. "Singapore researchers have done some work trying to link the mutations with clinical outcomes and transmissibility and have found no link between more severity or more transmissibility with newer mutants compared with the original lineages of SARS-CoV2," Tambyah said. Other scientists studying COVID have detected quadruple- and quintuple-mutants in samples as well, he said, without it necessarily affecting how well vaccines work.

Whoever wrote the headline didn't read the article. Bizarre. ?

I know that in sports writing it is standard operating procedure that one person writes the article, someone else writes the headline, and the two do not collaborate or even know who the other person is. I don't know if that's the case with news reporting, but it sounds like that's what happened here.

6 of my friends - from the same family - were prescribed this by their doc and ALL recovered QUICKLY! YOU KNOW there is more to drugs being used than the health of Americans. Kickbacks, incentive programs and all of that happen - and you know it.

So, if one of your loved ones was sick and their doc prescribed hydroxychloroquine and said it would help them recover, you would not allow them to take it????

I would never interfere with a Doctor's recommendation.

 

Funny how NOW you trust some Doctors but not others. Either you trust science or you don't.

Eugenics is science (heavily influenced by politics, but still a science).

 

I think you know what I meant with trusting science...

 

We trust Doctors on PrEP and Viagra, right?

 

Most of us also got vaccinated.

Today there's some stories about how under admitted political pressure from the US, Brazil is not allowing the Sputnik vaccine. The EU also has been threatening members to not approve the Sputnik. All out of admitted New Cold War hate for Russia, nothing to do with science. (Hungary said F-U to the EU again and used Sputnik and achieved enough vaccinations in doing so (55%) to now fully reopen. All the other EU countries are stuck at 25%. My friend's family in Argentina is fully vaccinated with Sputnik. Russia has given India and Africa permission to use the Sputnik patent for free in making their own vaccines. Completed studies have shown the Sputnik 97% effective.

 

Playing Cold War politics is clearly more important than science and the many additional lives lost.

The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has admitted that it used "diplomatic relations" to force Brazil to reject authorization of the Russian coronavirus vaccine Sputnik V amid rising death toll.

The HHS said in its annual report that its US officials scrambled to "mitigate Russia’s efforts" to boost its "influence" in the region, which would “undermine US’ safety and security."

Human lives should be more important than Cold War politics (or corporate patent profits) in a world pandemic, but the US and EU seem to think science is not as important as politics.

I DO trust doctors. But aren't you the one who was saying NO NO NO to hydroxychloroquine??? Because SOME docs said it was bad? And I wonder how influenced those Docs were!??!?!?!
