Am I going nuts - or what?

 

I could swear that two posts that are now in the Politics, Religion, War forum, started out in this forum (The Lounge)

 

They are:

 

(1) Who's Monogamus (an informal poll)

(2) Why we should be against gay marriage

 

If I am correct, that indeed these have been moved, could someone please tell us why? Although some of the posts may mention religion and/or politics, the subject of the posts are not specifically about those subjects.

 

As both of these topics are of interest to many of us (as evidenced by the large number of posts) why move them to a forum that will get fewer readers. And also, if they have been moved, why is there no mention in the Lounge that such a move has taken place?

 

Could it be that some monitors are being too politically correct.

 

And if I'm completly out to lunch and just having another blond moment - sorry guys.

Posts get moved fairly often but I can't imagine why the question about monogamy would be moved in it's entirety.

 

No matter what the topic or how much related discussion it has if somebody starts an off-topic sub-thread the whole thing gets banished?

I, too, can't understand why the two threads in question were moved at this very late date in their development, and without any indication here that they had been moved (a notice is normally provided to show a thread has been moved elsewhere). Why is Tom's monogamy thread more "political" than Rick's closet thread? The 57 posts and thousands of views while the monogamy thread was in this forum certainly indicate that it was a subject of general interest, unlike most of the very specific political junkie threads in the other forum.

Zipper, you're right; those two threads in question shouldn't have been moved. I think that whoever moved them, so inexplicably and surreptitiously, should come forward and explain why it was done, and then move them back. Especially when there are about a half dozen other gay marriage-related threads still in the Lounge, including Tom's question for legal advice and my thread about the phone number to call to let Gov. Schwarzenegger know how you feel about the proposed amendment.

 

Also, my post about giving money to the Human Rights Campaign, which used to be pinned to the top of the Lounge, has been completely deleted. What's up with that? Is American Idol the only safe topic now? Are intelligent, meaningful, thoughtful adult discussions off-limits and frowned upon?

It's not deleted. It's in Politics forum about 3/4s of the page down.

Generally we don't like to comment publicly on each other's actions. We have a private forum to discuss and thrash things out. In this case there isn't anything in the Mod forum regarding the threads being moved and personally I'm not clear as to the reason. I'm sure whoever moved the threads will present the reasoning.

Barry, No idea either. Also, not sure what the reason is. Usually, these moves are discussed in the moderator's forum or are the result of an alert.
