He was hired after having been imprisoned for drug trafficking, domestic abuse, assault, etc. I don't know whether he did porn after the conviction for raping his own toddler daughter. His death came in a shootout with police when he was on parole (and in violation of that parole if he had the weapon he used to shoot at the police). I do wonder how many fit in the category of doing porn because it seemed like the way to make the most money with the least effort. And of course the largely-inevitable decline with age and newer faces. How many years does a porn star have on average before they become over-exposed and/or age out of their audience? I guess it's kind of a weird cousin to child actors, and how few of them have adult careers. I'm reminded of this dialog from the movie "The Fluffer": Sean: Silver, what do you think happens with people in porn? Silver: What do you mean? Sean: Just seems to mess people up. Those with ongoing legal problems then face the difficulty of supporting themselves after prison and porn is what they know and where they have connections so they return to it. Some of the guys who get into porn have or develop drug dependency, which further adds to the need for the quick money and reduces other job prospects. It can be a vicious cycle. On the other hand, there are guys who choose to do porn for other reasons. Some because they enjoy sex and figure they might as well get paid to do what they enjoy. Some see it as a means of affirmation of their attractiveness. A 26 year old that gets into porn for 3 or 4 years even if successful, now has an even worse dilemma than they had at 26. 4 more years of others advancing in careers and now at 32 can become more unmarketable or even harder to get into a career. It is true that porn actors and actresses have disproportionately high occurrences of death at an early age. Porn actors are often people who live life in the fast lane and enjoy the non-stop party of drugs, fast cars, glamour, etc. That said, both Rick Hammersmith and Nick German became lawyers so some have focused on academic excellence. I can understand how having those conflicts added to the everyday stresses of life could pressure them into damaging decisions. I have always endeavored to engage only providers who are gay, however, a few providers, while in conversation, let references to their girlfriends slip, which took them off my provider list.
