>Know What I Mean? now THAT is an abbreviation

Actually it's an acronym. ;-)

Also known online as a TLA (three-letter abbreviation, many of which aren't three letters at all).

But YKWIM. FWIW.

Well, you know, he does have a point (I always appreciate fellow smartass comments). So I have to say Lanky scores one here. :p

P.S. I still love ya, Scott.

Yup, my bad literally. But technically it's designed to abbreviate so in the long run it is an abbreviation of sorts ;)

Give it another 50 years and you won't recognize the English language.

A typo, right. And the dog ate your homework.

I had the impression that the Escort/Massage ads from the advocate were funneled off into another magazine of more local focus called "Frontiers". Maybe one of our LA correspondence can elucidate?

IIRC (that's If I Recall Correctly, Rick), Advocate was always NYC-based. Their porn/escort content spun off as another magazine, but I think it was "Unzipped" wasn't it?

Frontiers was always CA-based, with SF and LA editions.

Whatever it was, that spin-off magazine made a critical blunder and tripled their advertising rates just about the time the www was taking off. I remember escorts discussing it *here* way back when.

About the time print magazines started raising rates, the web took off and so did escort advertising sites which were much more economical and with a wider reach.

The Advocate (which I read regularly in the 70 and 80s) was always California-based, moving back and forth between LA and SF as publishers and editors changed. The famous "pink pages" of classifieds, including escort ads, were eventually spun off during the 90s into a separate publication called Unzipped, which I think died about the time the Internet took off.

Unzipped is available, but the escort ads have almost disappeared from it. Some of the working boys I know said they charge much too much for the amount of business generated by ads in a print magazine these days. By comparison, the local bar guides distributed free in NYC have lots of escort ads, which are also available on line.

I sure wish someone came up with the answer to your question because I'd like to know where "My bad" comes from to. Sounds like baby-talk to me.
