Can you imagine living across the street and having to look at it 24/7

And probably listen to it too as they usually have music blaring!

While I don't HATE Christmas, over decorating is one of the THINGS I hate about Christmas.

Here's a few more examples:

This next one, is it Sacred or Secular?

http://online.wsj.com/public/resources/images/OB-AV873_decora_20071219145822.jpg

This one...Pretty, but necessary?

50,000 lights, 28 foot arch, and a 50 foot tree

this next one is a prize winner (sponsored by the company that makes the inflatables)

This one is dubbed THE BRIGADE

And lastly, this owner seems to have his metaphors (or stories) all mixed up. Santa is a wise man....Rudolph by the manger? And Frosty, bigger than Jesus? Who does Frosty think he is....John Lennon?

RE: How can you say these mean things!?

These displays of inflated ficticious characters obviously have nothing to do with Christmas at all! Silly bois! The people who own these homes in the photos are campaigning for the next presidential Elections! Vote for SANTA!

RE: How can you say these mean things!?

I will start this reply with the statement that I am a card carrying devout atheists who absolutely LOVES Christmas. I love it in all of its secular glory. I collect hard carved Santa Clauses and my house is decorated to the teeth. I throw one party after another and love having people in for dinners that I have spent days preparing. I enjoy buying and wrapping presents for family, friends and neighbors. Though I am not personally a fan of mass produced outsides Christmas decorations if they give others pleasure who the hell am I to criticize. Lighten up guys!!!!!

RE: How can you say these mean things!?

I think that's the point... the lightening up part. In the last week I have had two help/distrees/suicide calls directly related to the "holidays",(not Clients)... seen three fatal accidents, have heard from another three friends of Family members passing away, seen one angry grocery store customer actually throw some frozen food at a store worker because they were out of lime beans and another irrate guy verbally slam dunk another 7 eleven clerk because he, (the customer) did not check the date on the paper he was buying and bought the news paper from the day before. Not to mention the 7 foot tall, 10 foot long inflated Santa on a mtotorcycle holding up a foot tall beer bottle that I have to drive my every night~ Great message there! (???????)

I don't know... I tend to fall back on my traditional cultural beliefs, (I am different culturally)... celebrating life, each other throughout the year... when you wake up it's a Blessing and when there are people in your Life you Love, you show them and tell them as often as possible... you sort of celebrate every day~

Overkill on External House Decorations has always been a "Mine is Bigger than Yours" Homeowner's Holiday Ritual Joke!

BUT in a City like New York, it just means my "Electric Bill" is gonna be way bigger than yours! I am definitely the Bigger Sucker and NOT in the Good way! LOL ;-)

LOL! Ya! More fun to blow a C*ck then blow a fuse! Save energy... plug in an electrician~ They professionals at turning things on! Hee Hee!

P.S. I am going to be buying an electricians outfit this year... love that kind of role play... You should call me after the Holidays when I am in NYC and I'll come over and upgrade your electrical systems! Hee Hee!

G-d I don't celebrate xmas

I'm hardly part of the Xmas Police, but, pardon me, what the fuck's wrong with saying, "Christmas?"

I don't enjoy the lights and I don't begrudge those that do the pleasure they get from it. Hey, gaudy, ostentatious, overdone, celebratory, festive its in the eye of the beholder. How about some tolerance? Give it and hopefully get it.

I don't begrudge them - I just think their taste is in their asshole.

Wrong costume - who ever heard of an "electrician's crack"? Try a plumber's outfit and come over and check out my pipes

Some people are into rimming!~ I think I saw recent threads on that... I like rimmers.. Personally not into the "profit" type Christams but fully respect the "Prophet" type Christmas that some people of their Faith believe in. Have to admitt... my "Faith" is founded in a mixed Heritage... Not liek most of general America... Silent Citizan.. (Well not anymore actually if you are a tribal memeber... they recently formed their own Country). I am not in a position to judge others on their Faith... mine is REALLY obscure... Very old and traditional to my Native Heritage. (Read the recent Lakotah Independent Nation artical on the front page of Daddy's news? It's on Fox.) While I remain dedicated to both Nations... I have to honestly admitt that the Christmas holiday has me perplexed. What exactly is it about??? I wonder why you can't love and show a person you love that they are loved by you just any old time of the year and have it still the same meaning... If I love you, I LOVE YOU... regardless of the day or season... If I love Life and feel Blessed by it... I feel honored by it's presence every day I wake up and greatful the entire day, (good or bad), with my continued presence in the experience... hopefully I pass on some of my experience and lessons along the way and learn more from others as I go... I understand the concept of "Christmas once a year"... to a degree... I understand BETTER... "life is every day for the rest of my life and others"... My personal/cultural choice is to acknowledge that.

That's not for everybody... It's just me~

I think that was from my post. I'm on the phone so it's hard to tell but if it is my post let's just say we might have conflicting beliefs.
