Interesting read about men who consider themselves mostly straight and not bisexual! I wonder if it is due to millennials being more open about their sexuality?

Back in the 1990's (pre-Internet) there were dozens of personals from guys who called themselves "mostly straight" in addition to those who were "bi-curious."

This is nothing new.

"Yet when these men were forced to choose between straight, bisexual or gay, about three-quarters marked straight because for them bisexual, even if it is understood as “bisexual-leaning straight,” is too gay to accurately describe their identity."

In my experience there have been those outside the hiring World who have taken bisexual to equal gay.

Then some in the hiring world who view an escort as labeling themselves as bisexual to speak to a number of sexuality advertising strategies.

I do believe bisexual has lost its meaning of a broad generally accepted meaning of being actually attracted to both sexes. I identify as pansexual, and when I first discovered that term it was like discovering fire for me for the first time lol. Just simply being attracted to both sexes (bisexuality) is not a.simple description of me. I value duality, and persons who exhibit both masculine (male) and feminine (female) characteristics. With the prefix pan meaning "all", it's a better description of me then saying I am attracted to men and women.

Like the article elludes to, mostly straight is a better term to describe those who would not consider themselves as strictly straight, but wouldn't consider themselves as attracted to men on the same plain as women either. Personally I have heard more people use hetero-flexible than mostly straight.

Overall, I don't think this identification is due to Millennials being more open in terms of more open to different sexual experiences, as being more honest and accurate in a world that is more accepting than yesterday. But still needing to find a identity separate from bisexual because of the close mindedness and stigma that still goes with that term.

I wish that mostly-straight as a orientation label would have been more prevalent when I was in my twenties. I would get so confused by interactions with some men who identified as straight. They would show an interest in me and want to experiment and I would assume that they're actually gay and just starting to come out of the closet. If I could have only seen it for what it was, I wouldn't have allowed my head to get so screwed up over them.
