It's very easy to start dumping on Page Six about this but let's be real folks, it's the whole POINT of a gossip page to flip up rocks and see what's squirming underneath. So, had it not been Page Six, it would have been some other paper that would have exposed this "scandalette".

 

So instead of pointing the finger at the messenger, let's address the person involved and what I'd like to ask Roman is: "ARE YOU A FUCKING IDIOT????"

 

(Obviously, the answer is a resounding "yes".)

We do love to go for the jugular over nothing.

 

The story I read (on Page Six) said he had "a job in the administrative office" of the Consulate. It didn't say a position of power, a position of influence, or anything much beyond what we used to ingloriously call "clerk/typist".

 

Ragazzi isn't being presented as an attache or representative of the Israeli government. He was a local hire working in the administrative office, probably in a minor clerical job. Light filing and answering phones would be my guess.

 

Where's the beef? (Yes, I've seen the pictures. Spare me.)

Oh I'm sure there was a criminal background check but last I looked performing in porn was legal. It wouldn't (and shouldn't!) show up.

 

Unless he was in a position to influence policy (i.e. susceptible to blackmail), what he does in his free time is his business. Unless, of course, you want to apply the same scrutiny to the private lives of airline stewards, car salesmen, IT workers, HR drones, and everyone else in the US that has a job.

 

A major airline tried to fire pornstar Pete Ross when they discovered his after-hours porn work. He sued them for wrongful termination and won. What an employee does in his off time is HIS business.

 

There may be more to this story than what we've heard, of course, but there's no reason (yet) to vilify Ragazzi. I'm guessing Page Six had a slow "news" day.

There is a GIGANTIC difference between being a car salesman and working in your country's CONSULATE.

 

It's irrelevant whether he was in a position susceptiple to blackmail. Whether you like it or not, there are companies and jobs where it is INAPROPRIATE to be staring in porn videos and any rational person realizes that working at a consulate is not the place for porn stars.

Could you provide further details? Specifically what he "won". I think the major airlines have clauses in their contracts about behaviour that might impact the airline ("off time" or not) and being fired and getting some nuisance money in a suit isn't exactly the victory rally cry you might make it out to be. If he still works for the same airline, and won a large sum of money, well - more power to him. (I'd love to see porn stars on every flight I take - maybe we could have more ex-porn/current porn flight attendants and less bartenders if true!)

I did not say that there are not places where it would be inappropriate. I don't find the administrative office of a Consulate any different from an administrative office at General Motors.
