I would totally consider installing an old-style floor mount one.

Having experienced the Japanese toilets with spray and warm air drying, I’d put my money there first, in a bidet if I could. Just saying.

My next bathroom will be a palace.

 

It will have....

 

A full floor urinal

 

A full sized oval high toilet.

 

A proper European bidet.

(not one of those horrible “squirt gun up your asshole” Japanese ones)

 

A walk-in gym style shower big enough for 4 men.

 

A tub big enough for 2 men to bathe each other in.

 

And it will be heated by a large marble slab in the middle like a Turkish bath.

 

It will be heaven.

The first thing I need in my bathroom is a bidet. Preference to a Japanese over an Italian/Spanish one, but I'll take either. If every inch is a luxury, I'll settle for those wands.

 

Second thing I would like is a rain-style shower.

 

Everything else, I can do without.

I’ve been to a couple of hotels with the rain-style shower, and frankly, I don’t like them. But I also sit in the shower, which might be part of the problem. Fortunately, those hotels also have a hand-held shower, so everywhere can be reached.

We left the bidet in the basement, in case the next owner wanted to reinstall it. Our current house has a huge jetted tub in the master bathroom, but it also has a separate large shower stall with a seat; in the two years we have been here, the tub has never been used. We speculate about how we might better use the tub space, but we haven't come up with anything practical. I like the idea of having a urinal, but the space is much too large.

Just pointing out that for many the shower is also utilized as a urinal.

A gay couple I know redid their entire home and installed a urinal in their main bathroom. I also have a client that has a urinalysis in the master bath. Useful and appreciated!
