Just got back from St. Louis. Great trip but had 3 cancellations all in a row one day which hurt big time. I was naive in rescheduling one dude who canceled on me last time I was in St. Louis because I believe in What am I doing wrong in confirming? Has anyone asked for a small deposit to secure a spot on an escorts calendar? Open to ideas. Not sure why some guys like to waste time.

You can try ask for a "booking fee" by PayPal or Venmo. A few months ago someone mentioned an escort who would only take appointments that way and several posters on here were outraged by his "demand".

I know an escort who had 6 cancellations in St. Louis in one trip, put the city on hold, got back there a year later and had a great time.

Some escorts only travel to a city if they have an "anchor" someone who will pay for their flight and/or commit to see them for couple of hours or an overnight.

Thank you for sharing this with us! You're not alone! Escorts deal with flaky guys al the time, unfortunately it's a big part of the business just like it is in all activities.

Even very small deposits have a different drawback: most clients don't want to be linkable by a recorded financial transaction, for obvious reasons. In theory there are ways around this, but they get complicated.

I suppose part of the answer has to be to develop a good flakedar...

As a client, I'm uncomfortable with sending in a deposit. I always have cash. I don't like the idea of a traceable transaction. I'm single, so no husband (or wife) to question a charge.

I've also never cancelled an appointment. Postponed some with my regular guy, but never cancelled. I do understand how someone I've never visited wouldn't know I won't cancel, so I get you.

Clients cancelling are a bane to this business. I know we get nervous and flake out, but three in one day is horrible for you.

I think confirming helps, but unless there is a untraceable way to send a booking fee, I think the clients most likely to cancel an appointment won't pay. Which is another way of saying if the client is willing to post some money up front, he wouldn't cancel anyway.

If there is a deposit and the escort cancels, yes, that should be refunded, IMO. I'm always, er, motivated, to meet an escort, so if they have to cancel, I don't want to be out more than my unfulfilled desires.

One of my new policies is new clients requesting a session from a virtual number ( Google Voice, etc ) will be required to send a deposit prior to booking ( unless you can verify a real mobile phone number at some point ). I had a very unfortunate scenario in Dallas not once, not twice, but three times during the same trip, whom I believe was the same individual where each session the client flaked but also feared for my personal safety because of the situation and what was sent to me each time. The only commonality between each session booking was the virtual phone numbers & excessive stalker and threatening behavior at the end of every interaction.

Unfortunately, all it takes is one individual to ruin it for everyone else.

Sorry to hear about your experience, thank you for sharing this with us!

Should we bump the thread about the Dallas mafia? ;)

If you ask a deposit from every client, you won’t get many bookings at all. A client has no reason to trust you before you two have met. But if a client has flaked in the past, definitely you can ask a deposit from that client.

What if the client is using a google voice or a texting app as @Kurtis Wolfe points on the previous post?

If you're established, it's easier to implement these kinds of deposits without too much push back. If you have a reliable history and solid reviews, I'd say try it out and see if it works for you.

If you're just starting out or still working on building up a regular/repeat clientele, think more carefully about how many roadblocks you're willing to put up in an attempt to avoid flakes.

The few times in the past that I’ve agreed to a deposit, there was a 100% flake rate. In one case, I had paid for a flight. It’s a dilemma for sure. If someone flakes just cut them off.

Hit me up - lets make it happen.

Damn to flake in a hottie like you!

Maybe you're in the wrong place. You could do well in a wealthy city like NYC, SF, LA, Chicago, DC, Miami, etc.

Btw, St. Louis and medium/small size Midwestern cities are a hit or miss markets. I know folks who only go there if they have regulars committed to hiring them.

I was a day from leaving for a planned trip to Philly and Alain DeBerry cancelled on me. I had taken time off work. Rented a car. Hotel reservations. We had talked on the phone several times. Emailed.

So if an escort ever asked me for a deposit, that would be a big, fat no.
