At long last, Chelsea has a new (as in just opened today), non-Starbucks coffee place.

It's called Cafe Grumpy and I guess it's technically part of a chain because the owners have a place in Greenpoint, too ( http://www.cafegrumpy.com/).

It's on the south side of 20th street between 7th and 8th right next to the police station (woof!)

Their coffee was rated by the NY Times to be amongst the best in the city.

See you there.

Since when did it having to be gay mean it was good? Can't you just enjoy the coffee because it is good?

Sorry to disappoint, this "coffee shop" has been open at least 2-3 months. It used to be a lovely massage parlor (legit only!). Now it looks like an IKEA display. I thought the decor very sterile and cold. I only saw several tables for sitting. I hope the coffee is better than the decor.

And YES, Pinkberry has also been open for a while now.

Found it. Nice enough gals, but not a place to hang out, no room and not comfy. Coffee was only so so. The best NYC coffee is still ninth street espresso (google it) but a pain to get to, unless you live over there. Best coffee on eight is at The Chocolate Bar, but take it to go.

The only gay coffee is still The Factory in the Village, which is fine, but I still hate the people who work there. Oh well.

>Very friendly staff!

Whats a patina?

Greg
