I was watching the recent episode of "Blue Bloods". In her role as ADA Erin went to visit her father the Police Commissioner. He was with his two aids. All three were sitting down. When she was announced and entered the room none stood up. I was surprised.

Are you going to start posting everything you watch on TV?

This tradition dates from a time when very few women worked, and men and women socialized separately. If you tried to do this now, you'd be standing all the time.

That tradition died when "What's My Line" and Bennett Cerf were cancelled in the late 1960s.

Not everything. :p Just things that interest me.

I wonder why people don't post more? These forums are more than just politics and escorting.

I think it was a nice gesture in its day.

I’d say most women in today’s world would unfortunately be offended by it.

Decorum is dead....long live equality.

I'm not offended by it, but it's awkward.

Etiquette is that we don't post photos of minors.

Because he is the POTUS he takes precedence.

I was reading about the Emperor Napoleon III and the Empress Eugenie. In a carriage ride normally the woman would sit on the right-hand side but because he was the Emperor he sat on the right.
