Thanks! I thought Alice Springs would have made a good location for the federal capital. It's in the center of the country.

The location of the federal capital was specified in the constitution. It had to be in an area to be excised from the state of New South Wales, but more than 100 miles from Sydney.

There are 10 timer boxes around the property that light the landscaping, the pool, and the building, and every year I screw it up trying to reset them to Daylight Savings Time. As of tonight, I still can't get two of them right. OK...that might not be as interesting as an Avalon thread, but it's a pain in my side. ;)

It could always be worse. ;)

I replaced the wall switch for the front door light with one of these, it's great, I don't have to worry about the daylight saving change, it's automatic:

Or perhaps you meant an outdoor box like this:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003A1ZIA8/

But I recently bought the Ikea gateway and some bulbs, so I can program them through Apple HomeKit and it was OMG easy to get exactly what I wanted, which wasn't even possible with a tabletop electronic timer, even though that tabletop timer was a recent model with astronomical timing and automatic daylight savings adjustments as well. So I guess my point is it has to only be a matter of time before someone produces a Homekit compatible outdoor controller.

Unfortunately my controllers look like this: They're all hardwired into the building running through conduit. I tried the electronic ones and the remote control ones, but we have so much rain here in FTL, that the receivers (despite being water proof) kept getting wet and shorting out. The ones in the front are all run through transformers, and those work great also but are a pain to program. All of this is fine except twice a year when the time changes...

Love those Intermatic timers!

Do you have to change on/off times? Because changing the clock +/- an hour is as simple as pulling out the dial and twisting it to the correct time.....

If I resided in any of the states that split time zones, I'd go berserk for sure.

Oregon and Idaho are split between the Mountain and Pacific time zones.

Nebraska, Kansas, Texas, North and South Dakota are divided between Central and Mountain time zones.

Florida, Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky, and Tennessee are split between Eastern and Central time zones.

Alaska is split between the Alaska time zone and the Hawaii-Aleutian time zone.

Try being an escort while living in central TN and getting requests to meet clients in Nashville (CT), Memphis (CT), Knoxville (ET) & Atlanta (ET)! I did for years and yup at least once I had to ask a client to push a meeting back by thirty minutes due to the fact that I completely forgot about the time change... ayiyiy!!

lol...Exactly. The on/off pins have to be changed as well. It seems so simple, but for some reason every year I change the dial thinking that I've corrected the time, but I forget the pins need to be adjusted also, and that's the problem, it takes several attempts to get everything how I like it. I still have two zones that are going on too late, and one zone that won't go off at the right time. I know I'm a little anal, but basically want everything to turn on and off at the same time. Making another adjustment today. Ugh!!
