I couldn't believe the article in this morning's "Desert Sun": eight men were arrested for having sex in a restroom in a park in Rancho Mirage, CA, a very upscale town near Palm Springs (former President and Mrs. Ford are the best known residents). Their ages ranged from 26 to 70, and I was surprised that the paper printed face pictures of each of them. Even in an area where gay life is very open and accepted, with bars and clothing optional gay resorts open to the general public, with organized orgies in private homes that are easy to get invitations for, with gay festivities covered in the society pages, they still felt compelled to engage in furtive activity in a public place which could expose them to prosecution.

I can totally understand the desire for sex in a public place and the excitement of the possibility of getting caught. "Organized orgies in private homes" and "clothing optional gay resorts" lack the spontaniety of coming across someone in a park or rest room. That's one reason why I don't like sex clubs or bath houses...it all seems too scheduled and easy, kind of like Dick Cheney shooting at a caged bird. I wouldn't take the risk of public sex myself (now that I'm a public figure :p , but I totally see the thrill and desire for it.

I didn't say that. The danger of getting caught is thrilling, but I'm sure the act of actually getting caught and arrested is a real hard-on killer. ;(

I suppose if you can control that danger it would be okay. But if you can control it, is it still dangerous? If so, what's the point exactly? I'm still eluded.

Well, it's just not something that turns you on, that's all. Some guys are into humiliation, some are into romance, some are into bondage, some are into voyeurism, some are into frottage, some are into sex in public places... We each have our own unique sexual turn-ons and idiosyncrasies, some so-called "normal" and some out of the ordinary. I think it's what makes M2M sex so interesting and exciting.

First, Rancho Mirage is NOT Palm Spings about 10 miles down the HWY!

Second, Rancho MIrage is not really an Open Sex city, even if Palm springs residents might consider itself more liberated and a friendly city.

Just perhaps the public sex activities have become TOO blatant in your face to ignore.

It is strange that folks felt the need to go to Rancho Mirage, since it maybe too easy to score in PS.

ALmost like looking for trouble!

I'm guessing some people, Regardless of their "BIG BUCKS" don't belong in an Upscale Neighborhood! "Money and Taste" DONOT Go Hand in Hand!

But listen we have them in "Upscale" NYC Neighborhoods also!

BUT Unfortunately for the "Tea Room Crowd", none are Pretty enuff for them to be seen in! LOL

Also, this might Stir Some feather's..BUT I also think "Tea Room Thinking" is a Thing of the Past! IMHO :p :P :p

""It's sad we got people everywhere who do this kind of stuff," said Palm Desert resident Toni Schwartz, who was at the park Thursday with her son. "Why'd they have to come to our park?""

She should jsut be glad her husband slipped out the window.

I was going to comment that it was a good thing Gerry was getting a pacemaker this week, but you just made the same point. ;-)
