didn't know this was being remade, but it reminded me of Saving Mr. Banks from 2013 ....worth seeing.....

funny scene here from Saving Mr. Banks where the early 1960s Disney staff tries to convince the very stiff original author to accept some of the kooky songs and then has to hide "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" for the time being...

It looks like a nice movie for Christmas. Emily Blunt was magnificent in "A Quiet Place" (she should really get an Oscar nomination for that), but I think this would be a Golden Globe Musical or Comedy nomination for her

While originally disinterested, I must admit, the in-theatre preview has heightened my interest

Lin Manuel Miranda

Dick Van Dyke

Angela Lansbury

Colin Furth

Meryl Streep

Emily Blunt

I remember they did a spoof of this on the old Carol Burnett Show. The thing is the person having the sugar forced down him was a diabetic.

Bored out of my mind. Felt sorry for Lin. Did his character supposed to have a speech impediment? I like Meryl but between Mama Mia and this, she should give musicals a bit of rest.

I respectfully disasgree with my distingusihed colleague @tchm . I found the movie as a whole completely engaging, although I think where the money came from at the end was a bit contrived and unnecessary. And Streep's role in this film was totally unlike her appearance in Mama Mia or any other film I've seen her in. I don't think the songs will hold up as well on their own as those in the original, but they fit the movie quite well.
