Well damn, I rimmed a guy last week for the first time ever in my life and I've had diarrhoea for the past four days now.

UUUUUUUUUUGH

Well, I work in watersupplies and our lab people say that our bodies can handle these kind of bacteria pretty well. We just have diarrhoea while our body adjusts and makes antibodies. After that we're good to go again.

But I don't know about the one mentioned in the article specifically but they say it lasts for about a week

No more rimming for me. :(

It might be just a coincidence. I would suggest next time you give head (or rim) use mouthwash with alcohol for rinsing, it kills a lot of bacteria. I assumed you already went to the Doctor even if the symptoms are gone.

If you have a parasite, it should be eliminated through appropriate treatment. They don't just go away on their own.

I would suggest not going deep in with your tongue. I never do and have never had a problem. I also use the mouthwash IMMEDIATELY after the sex is over.
Thanks for the tips! It was my first time ever and I'm still debating whether I enjoyed it or not. I know that I don't enjoy getting rimmed myself AT ALL. It's actually really a turn-off for me.

It could very well just be coincidence. It's not the first time I've had diarrhoea for a week or so out of the blue. (Even when I was not having any sex at all)

My stomach seems to be made from steel, but with my gut I have to be a little more mindful of what I eat.

I've not been to the doctor yet, as they only look at it more closely if it lasts for more than a week. I did go buy some medicine at the drug store.

I rimmed him last Wednesday and the diarrhoea only started Monday-Tuesday, so to me it doesn't seem related?

Wrong. The average gestational period for Giardia (meaning the time between exposure and developing symptoms) is 7 days, though you might notice almost immediately or it can take weeks.

Seriously, it's just a stool sample or two ordered by your doctor to detect if you have anything that needs to be treated. No big deal.

That is weird that it is higher in late summer and fall. The article does not explain why. I tend to rim the same no matter what the season.

I wonder if the time frame is due to people taking last minute warm weather holidays or getting g in as much sexy time before they hunker down for fall and winter? I think in general summer through fall is when clinics see the most sti cases due to people being more social cause of nice weather.

Hugs,

Greg

I would suggest escorts NOT to rim clients... talking about a Russian roulette.

Well, I think that most clients are probably less a risk to an escort than the other way around. This is a generalization, however I think that clients probably see less men in general so put escorts at less a risk. You would have to check any actual studies but that is my intuition.

I think you should take your doctor's advice. However, I have been rimming a lot for 30 years and I make sure that I go in as far as I possibly can. Guys seem to really like it and I find that I am happy when they do. On the other hand, if bacteria is changing maybe I will change my mind. But maybe I will only be able to make guys really happy in winter, spring, and early summer. I do think that using mouthwash can be helpful. But in some ways I will consider myself lucky. It's funny a working guy mentioned how deep I was rimming him the last time I saw him and I could not understand it. Maybe it was about this.

Alright, going to see my doctor tonight. If I fast I'm alright but the minute food gets in my system my gut goes haywire (I fasted yesterday).

Interested what she'll say though. GP's here in Belgium rarely do any actual testing, they just listen to your symptoms, prescribe medicine. If that doesn't work they try a different medicine. If that still doesn't work they'll MAYBE do a test. Which I've always found to be weird.

First and foremost, if you haven't had your Hep A&B vaccines, you shouldn't even consider rimming anyone
Fully vaccinated! Even got my HPV shots.

If you did get bacillary dysentery from picking up shigella by rimming or ATM (Ass To Mouth) cocksucking and you're a healthy person, your doctor will probably just let it run its course and tell you to stay very well hydrated. But, it could be something else, so it's good that you're going to the doctor, @Wolfer.

That's too bad since different medications are used to treat different types of infections. I can understand prescribing something immediately, before the infectious agent is known, if the symptoms are severe and presenting medical risks or are just extremely difficult to live with because that happened to me once. Turns out that the doctor's initial guess was wrong, though, so I ended up being prescribed something different after the stool samples were analyzed. Taking both Cipro and then Flagyl is not pleasant, so if it's possible to wait for treatment until test results are done that would be my recommendation.

I got shigella from contaminated food (I swear!) and I never felt so bad in my life. Fever at 106, diarrhea like crazy, headache and couldn't stand. I had to go to ER by ambulance and I was at the hospital for 2 nights. I was diagnosed with stools samples, which had lots of blood (yuck).

I was actually asked at the hospital if I had ATM sex but no, that had not happened for few weeks prior to the infection so it was excluded, and I did eat something I didn't feel I should have two days before. The incubation is usually 36-48 hours before symtomps start.

I lost 10 pounds in a week (that was the only good thing!) and 1200$ of copay.....

Well, there seems to be a bit of blood in my stool (if I'm seeing it correctly, not entirely sure).

I'm seeing my doctor later today. I don't have a fever as far as I know. I'm not even nauseous, just tired with really bad cramps.

I've been fasting since yesterday which has kept the actual diarrhea to a minimum but the cramps are quite bad. Luckily it was a slooow day at work.

Just now buying some yoghurt :)

But darn it, I'm going to Paris this weekend (leaving tomorrow morning) so I hope I'll feel better.

Sorry to hear that. In my experience, unless the diarrhea is related to food poisoning (which in most people resolves itself fairly quickly) or a minor illness the symptoms do not go away until treated. The good news -- again, from my experience; I am not a doctor -- is that if you do have some sort of parasitic or other infection that's causing this, you will feel significantly better within the first 24 hours of taking the medication (but be sure to take the entire course that's prescribed since the problem may return with a vengeance if you do not completely eliminate the infectious agent). The time to eat yogurt and other foods with "good" gut bacteria is after your treated since, unfortunately, these medications kill the good along with the bad.

Yikes!

So I've just come back from the doctor. The only thing that gave her pause was the blood. The rest of my symptoms were okayish (mainly because I wasn't nauseous or vomiting I think). She prescribed an antibiotic.

As long as it's red blood and not black looking blood.

Red means it's a localized, lower bleed. Black means it's higher in the system, which can be incredibly dangerous and a very bad sign.
