I have had all of the covid vaccines and boosters and have had covid at least twice. My PCP recommends the flu shot but no longer recommends a covid shot so I am not sure what I will do this year. He also does not recommend RSV shots in spite of me being over 65. Not sure what I will do yet. I am thinking of going ahead with the Covid shot again this year since I have not seen any side effects from the shot.

I would keep tax records forever. On a couple of occasions (for background checks for jobs), I have needed to provide W-2’s as proof of past employment. For the past 5 years I have started keeping all records electronically which really cuts down on storage needs.

I frequent a place in Houston that adds an 18% gratuity but only on the weekends. I usually tip more so I asked the waiter why they are doing this. He said that the weekend crowd is a different demographic that generally tips poorly and that the bar and wait staff do not want to work weekends knowing they won’t make as much money. Thus, management added the mandatory gratuity for weekends to make sure they would have adequate staff.

Ouch - I would love to have more but will have to live with what I have if that is the remedy.

There could be many different reasons. I handle taxes for two elderly people who make less that 85,000 per year but their taxes were both up slightly due to higher income from CD’s and MMF’s due to higher interest rates.

Given the number of providers I have been with that spent much of the appointment looking at the phone, I have a hard time believing they cannot answer in a 3 or 4 hour time period.

So I think I am a little better off now. I am retired. I had been sitting on cash for a time waiting on a chance for higher fixed income returns. Post Covid inflation has given me the opportunity to raise my cash flow by investing at these higher rates.

Never met him though he has been around a long time. He used to have an ad up in Houston.
