In the United States, the term ‘mulato’ is racist and offensive. Full stop.
Any cursory google search will confirm.

Disappointing to see him use “mulato,” which came from the word mula, or mule, the offspring of a horse and a donkey—clearly an offensive and outdated term for a mixed-race person. It’s sure not a slur of the magnitude of the n-word, but it would be good for it to disappear from ordinary use.

Yeahhhhh that was a real shocker for me as well.

He was able to give me a last minute appointment and hosted in his very clean apartment.  He constantly checked in on my comfort during the massage.  I left happy and would return.  

I met with him.  His pictures do not do him justice.  He was extremely intuitive when figuring out what my needs were.  I would not hesitate to rebook.

Only mentioning that because that may have affected the experience.  From the pics, he is just my type.  In person he was kind of aloof. He asked that I leave the money on a table before the experience started, which I kind of get, but no one has ever asked me to do that before.  I was expecting him to be a little more dominant/engaged, but the experience was just kind of flat.  Glad I did it, because I don’t have to wonder anymore, but will not repeat.

Sorry I confused you. I didn’t have particularly high expectations. I meant that I was nervous because it was one of my newest hiring experiences after the extended isolation most of us experienced during the height of the pandemic. I expressed that to him at the beginning of our session, and I believed that as the professional, that wouldn’t have been unusual to deal with nervous clients returning to the business.  
 
And I always tell my hires that I want them to be aggressive and take the lead. We’d spoken about that in advance and like I said, it wasn’t that Joey didn’t give an effort, but we just didn’t have that spark.  To be clear, Joey was perfectly polite at all times, but his heart didn’t seem in it, at least not for me.
